Luke 21.10-20 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.
12 But before all these things,
they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. 13 It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. 16 But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18 And not a hair of your head shall perish. 19 In your patience ye shall win your souls. 20 But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.
When I was doing a study of the Olivet Discourse found in Matt 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, I saw the difference in the wording in in Luke 21.12 from the other two paralled passages: 'but before these things.' Since I believe that every word is inspired and there are no 'slips of the tongue' in Bible prophecy, and since I take the Bible literally: this passage must mean what it says, Before the start(before all these things) of the 7 year tribulation in vs 10 ("nation shall rise against nation' )there will be a season of tribulation and revival identical to the tribulation and revival described in the parallel passages in Mark 13 and Matt. 24 which will take place in the first 3 1/2 years of the 7 year tribulation (before the placing of the 'abomination of desolation' at mid trib.)

The main practical conclusion for the raptured saints is that we will have our own season of tribulation and revival (it looks like revival in the midst of tribulation) before we are raptured.

'Nation rising against nation' is the start of the 7 year period of God's wrath because is the same as the opening of the first two seals in Rev. in which power is given to the horsemen to kill 1/4 of mankind. The season of God's wrath begins here which the Lord takes the elect out of by the rapture just before. I believe the "Day of the Lord' begins with the world wide devasting wars described in Matt 24.10 and Rev 6.1-8.

Although I am a firm believer in the pre tribulation rapture, this passage surely teaches that we will go through our own season of purifying and victory(in the revival) immediately before the rapture and the start of 'all these things:' which is God's wrath in the sudden destruction of a great percentage of mankind when 'nation rises against nation.'

(there will be those who 'fall back' in this pre rapture tribulation who are those who 'fall away' before the revealing of antichrist of 2 Thess 2 )

God Bless you.
