"One taken" to where eagles gather to EAT THEM?

Postby monkeyweather on Wed Jul 20, 2005 5:07 pm

I posted this elsewhere, but wanted to get some feedback on this from y'all.

I always assumed that the verses in Luke 17 (similar ones are in Matthew 24) could only mean the rapture, but I think that this might be a different KIND of "taking" altogether. I never really did a study on them because it just seemed that on the surface - they could only mean one thing.

Now what I am trying to ascertain is...where are these taken going?
(Keep in mind I am studying this - not concluding it!)

34 I say unto you, In that night there shall be two men on one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 There shall be two women grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
36 There shall be two men in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
37 And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together..

I have seen some discussions of which things come before the Second Coming of Christ where it is theorized that He comes before the vials are poured out. But what I am reading seems to point to the possible reaping of the marked.

If the marked are taken and thrown into the battle site where Christ returns....they are done for right that very day. There wouldn't be anyone left for the 1st vial to put a malignant sore ON.
-------------------
On the day of the Second Coming of Christ, it is rather looking like the vials are done with, and that all of those bearing the mark of the beast will DIE.
ALL of them.
Who is going to be inflicted with the sores of the vials if they are already DEAD? On that day, there is a harvest.
One man taken....one man left.

Is this the rapture? That isn't how these verses read so far as I can tell.

What of the one who is left behind?
Guess some will stand at the right hand of Jesus....and some on the left....sheep or goat.
Are any of the goats bearing the mark of the beast?
No, if they wore that, I may be that they would have been TAKEN in the harvest, to be dealt with on the day of Christ's Second Coming in power and glory.
This particular doom appears to be for those bearing the mark of the beast.
Where does Jesus say that those who are taken will go?
Where the eagles gather:

Luke 17:36 There shall be two men in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
37 And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.

Why are the eagles gathering? They are gathering for the supper of the great God.

What will become of those "taken" there?

Revelation 19:11 And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteous he doth judge and make war.
12 And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself.
13 And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure.
15 And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KINGS OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come and be gathered together unto the great supper of God;
18 that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone:
21 and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

The harvest - spoken of in Revelation

14:14 And I saw, and behold, a white cloud; and on the cloud I saw one sitting like unto a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out from the temple, crying with a great voice to him that sat on the cloud, Send forth thy sickle, and reap: for the hour to reap is come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud cast his sickle upon the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 Another angel came out from the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, he that hath power over fire; and he called with a great voice to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Send forth thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel cast his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and cast it into the winepress, the great winepress, of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress are trodden without the city, and there came out blood from the winepress, even unto the bridles of the horses, as far as a thousand and six hundred furlongs

I've read a lot of the different views that state that the Second Coming is at the 7th trumpet, with the vials left to go, or that the vials are for later, or that they are all concurrent. But the way they read so far as i can tell is that the 7th seal contains the 7 trumpets, and the 7 vials follow them. In the order they are recorded. Each 7th judgement seems to end with massive convulsions of nature as its culmination. But they do appear to go in order. I've also read that the 6th seal = the 7th trumpet = the 7th vial...still studying that, but it still looks to me like they go precisely as they seem to: in order. The 7 trumpets aren't brought in until the 7th seal, which contains them all. If they go in order....the Second Coming isn't til they are done with despite the similarities in earhtquakes/convulsions of nature.

Anyways, kinda looks like those who chose to worship the beast will be taken....taken to the site of the battle, killed by the sword of Christ....and the birds were filled with their flesh.

Those might not be rapture scriptures atall, but the doom of those who worship the beast.

It looks to me like the day of the Second Coming of Christ doesn't occur til after the seals, trumpets, vials are done, or there would be no one left to inflict the malignant sores on, that are put on those who bear the beast's mark.
Also that they will all die on that day, and Christ will make a victory ascent on that very same day, as is spoken of here:

Zechariah 14: 3 Then shall Jehovah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the mount of Olives shall be cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel; yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and Jehovah my God shall come, and all the holy ones with thee.
6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that there shall not be light; the bright ones shall withdraw themselves:
7 but it shall be one day which is known unto Jehovah; not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light.
8 And it shall come to pass in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And Jehovah shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall Jehovah be one, and his name one.

Interesting verses, huh? Now that is one BIG earthquake! Kinda 7th vial-ish.

When the vials and trumpets are done - it's over. Upon the pouring out of the seventh vial, a voice from the temple, from the THRONE, says "It is done" (Rev 16:17). It is done, and now it is time for the earth to be reapt.

Here is what Christ's garments will look like when HE is finished with the lot of them:

Isaiah 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat?
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment.
4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my wrath, it upheld me.
6 And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.

And then the eagles have the supper of the Great God.

For whatever reason MW, I never did think these verses pertained to the rapture----but were speaking of the time afterwards.

The vials, seals and trumpets [different ones-different times/events] seem to hold the key to this---especially the trumpets.

One of the reasons behind my posting the article above on Feast days/Trumpets/sheep/goats, was because this very issue of the one taken, one left was included in it...
I was hoping someone would address it. Glad you did!!!!!!!

The author [of the above] also said the same thing you have seemed to come up with;

Quote:
At Christ's Second Coming all the unsaved will be taken from the earth in judgment (Mt.25), but the living saints that survived the Tribulation will be left on the earth to enter the Millennium.
The ones taken from the field, the bed and the millennium (Mt.24:40-41) appear to be the unsaved, who will be removed in judgment separating the sheep from the goats when Christ returns after the Tribulation. The ones left (the sheep of Mt.25) will enter the Millennial Kingdom saved.
Only saved people will enter the one thousand year reign of Christ on earth after he separates the sheep from the goats.........

Quote:
It looks to me like the day of the Second Coming of Christ doesn't occur til after the seals, trumpets, vials are done

From my studying so far, I would have to agree.
The Holy Spirit is showing you much MW....praise the Lord.
As many times as I have read that---it just didn't 'connect' in my mind, the way you've brought it out in your post.
I'm looking forward to reading what others think about this....
Thank you for the encouragement, Jaunita
Know what's funny?
There is like a roadblock for now in my head. I can't make heads nor tails of all that feast of trumpet stuff, so if you put together a study on it or do a readers digest version, I'd love to read it!

Michael - same goes for those links you posted over - the calendar ones and the feasts? I am clueless about them. I look at them all and just go HUH? I know they have significance, and would love to understand, so y'all lemme know what you come up with, k?
I think I am being told "ONE THING AT A TIME"
Re: "One taken" to where eagles gather to EAT THEM

Postby monkeyweather on Wed Jul 20, 2005 9:16 pm

This brings up some questions to me about the various views of the rapture:

Does the Second Coming of Christ occur PRIOR to the vials of wrath being poured out? Specifically, does Christ's Second Coming in power and glory for every eye to see occur at the 7th trumpet?

He kills those wearing the mark on the day He returns, along with the antichrists armies, while casting the beast & the false prophet alive into the lake of fire. If he kills them all at the 7th trumpet - how is the first vial going to be poured out causing malignant sores on those bearing the mark? They'd all be dead already - EAGLE FOOD.

Revelation 19 gives an outline of what Christ will do on that day. It doesn't say He will kick His heels and wait for vials to be poured out - He is off to battle to where the eagles are gathered - and when He is done, on the day according to scripture, He will stand victorious:

7 but it shall be one day which is known unto Jehovah; not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light.[/b]

Is the rapture a separate event from the Second Coming of Christ in power and glory? We are not appointed to wrath, and the Second Coming of Christ does not occur til even things LABELLED wrath occur: the vials. Not that I don't think the seals and trumpets are indicative of wrath, but if one is to say "the rapture & Second Coming are one", then one would have to say we ARE appointed to the VIALS called wrath!!
If the rapture were to come after the wrath, then the scriptures that say we are not appointed to wrath would be a lie, which they are NOT.

Are the vials Millenial? I mean, do they occur AFTER the Millenial Kingdom?
No. They could not - the first vial puts malignant sores on those who wear the mark of the beast. After the Millenial Kingdom when Satan is released there won't be an ac or a mark.

Could these verses be describing the goats being taken?
No, they are sorted - standing on Christ's right are the sheep. The goats are THEN sent away to eternal punishment:

Matthew 25: 31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: 32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;
33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

See? Not eaten by eagles like those who were "taken"....those were already reapt.

Are the verses in Zechariah possibly referring to the post-Millenial attack by Satan/Gog/et al?

Nope! The description that follows Christ's victory stand is of the Millenial Kingdom - He will descend, from what I can tell in other verses, somewhere in the region of Bozrah, but on that day He will stand victorious on the Mount of Olives. Read on:

Zechariah 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith Jehovah will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from Jehovah shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor.
14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ***, and of all the beasts that shall be in those camps, as that plague.

16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso of all the families of the earth goeth not up unto Jerusalem to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, upon them there shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, neither shall it be upon them; there shall be the plague wherewith Jehovah will smite the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLY UNTO JEHOVAH; and the pots in Jehovah's house shall be like the bowls before the altar.
21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holy unto Jehovah of hosts; and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and boil therein: and in that day there shall be no more a Canaanite in the house of Jehovah of hosts.

I spose there's more - but it is time to hit the hay
----------------------------------------------
Okay - editted next day, to add more points.

REGARDING DARKNESS AND EARTHQUAKES:

From the account of the Second Coming of Jesus recorded in Mark 13:
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 and the stars shall be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

That correlates to the verses recorded (below) in Zechariah. Not only does this say AFTER that tribulation, it also says the same thing as this about light:

14:6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that there shall not be light; the bright ones shall withdraw themselves:
7 but it shall be one day which is known unto Jehovah; not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light

That is the ASV version - the NASB version says:
6 In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle.
7For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

Interesting, huh?

The kingdom of the beast is darkened with the 5th vial. Now the whole WORLD is darkened. This isn't a local description the way the 5th vial was. I wonder how close together these vials were coming? Anyways - as Jesus spoke of it - of the day of His Coming in power and glory - the sun will be darkened, the moon won't give her light, and the stars will fall from the heaven. THEN the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven and everyone will see Him and He will come.

Local darkness:

Revelation 16:10 And the fifth poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom was darkened; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they repented not of thei

And again, here is Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the mount of Olives shall be cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Revelation 16:18 and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men upon the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty.

And finally in Revelation 16:17 And the seventh poured out his bowl upon the air; and there came forth a great voice out of the temple, from the throne, saying, It is done:

18 and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men upon the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty.

19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

21 And great hail, every stone about the weight of a talent, cometh down out of heaven upon men: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof is exceeding great.

The only reason they are able to do that - continue to blaspheme God - is that they are still alive. And the reason they are still alive is that the Second Coming of Jesus doesn't occur until the vials are poured out.
And then the sun will be darkened, the moon won't give light, the stars? "the bright ones shall withdraw themselves"....the powers of the heavens will be shaken....and then some really big things happen and know what? That night there will be light

Zechariah 14:7 but it shall be one day which is known unto Jehovah; not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light.

The "day of the Lord" is obviously a process of judgements, but Christ's Second Coming in power and Glory, and his defeat of the beast/false prophet/armies/mark wearing people appears to be accomplished in one day.

And then there will be light - at NIGHT!
Anyways - bottom line - given what scripture says and describes, it doesn't look possible for the Second Coming to be at the 7th trumpet, nor does it appear remotely possible that the Second Coming occurs prior to wrath, so if we are not appointed to wrath (which we are NOT according to scripture) - then it rather follows that the rapture is a separate event which occurs before the Second Coming of Christ in power and glory so that every eye can see Him.

There just ain't no way to mix these up and say the 7th trumpet is His coming unless one says the vials, seals, and trumpets are all jumbled/simultaneous/identical, and since they are written in specific order, why would we do that if not to stretch scripture to make the rapture the same event as the Second Coming and to fit in a Second Coming prior to wrath??

Re: "One taken" to where eagles gather to EAT THEM

Quote:
34 I say unto you, In that night there shall be two men on one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 There shall be two women grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
36 There shall be two men in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
37 And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together..

In the days of Noah and in the days of Lot, the people who were taken were those who were killed. Those left were those who had been delivered from the calamity... So I do believe the point has much merit.

I once interpreted the passage as you are MW, and still do to a certain extent. After prayer, however, I realised that I might be overthinking the eagle/vulture metaphore.

When they ask Jesus "Where?" he responds with imagary. Gathered eagles/vultures are always a sign of a dead body. Even to this day, when people in arid environments are searching for a dead body, they take special note of where vultures and other flesh eating birds gather. The circling birds are always a sign of death.

Jesus was telling his disciples to watch for the signs, to look up. Whether the "where" refurs to where we are raptured to, or in which city or area the wicked are killed, Jesus is telling us that if we want to know where and when things are going to happen we need to watch for the signs.
Grace and Peace,
My opinion is, instead of answering the disciples, Jesus want them to be watchful and long for the Rapture, just like the way the eagles longed for a dead body. The eagles are constantly looking for carcases, so the eagles, high above the sky, are constantly watchful for the signs of carcases (so christians should be constantly watchful for signs of his coming). The eagles longed for the carcasses for food (christians should longed for the Rapture to see Christ face to face)

Because of the practically identical wording with Matt. 24 "one shall be taken, the other left' I believe that both are a reference to the rapture. The imagery is of a flock of eagles feeding on a live body. It is kind of graphic, but if we are eager for the coming of the Lord Jesus at the rapture, and we have been 'drinking his blood, and eating his flesh' than it is actually a good picture of the raptured saints flocking and feeding at the presence of the Lord Jesus when He comes and gathers us to Himself.

The context of this passage in Luke 17 is an attack on Israel, which could be interpreted as Armageddon. But since we believe the body of prophecy teaches a pre tribulation rapture (1 Thess 4, 2 Thess 2, Matt. 24), I would venture to say that the rapture in in the context of an attack on Israel at the beginning of the 7 year tribulation time.
The Holy Spirit revealed this scripture to me. He leads us into all truth.
The carcass is Jesus. The Eagles are the saints, gathered in the air to meet him.
