Jesus teaches a pre trib rapture in Matt.24.32-42

Matt. 24.32-42 Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh; 33 even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished
('all these things' are the events of the 7 year tribulation described by Jesus in vs 4-31)

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour
(of the beginning of 'all these things' which is the context of what Jesus is talking about here)

knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only. 37 And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. 38 For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man .
(As the judgment of Noah's flood caught the unbelieving world unaware so shall the rapture catch this unbelieving world unaware. This is different than the physical return of Jesus at the end of the age when 'every eye shall see' and 'all the tribes of the earth shall mourn;' the physical return of Jesus to earth(Matt 24.30); which is to say that all the world will be anticipating and will see the physical return of Jesus to the earth. There are two totally different mind sets of the world at the two different 'comings' of Jesus)

40 Then shall two man be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: 41 two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left
(The rapture of the elect at the beginning of 'all these things')

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh.

In summary: In this portion of scripture Jesus has just finished describing the main events of the 7 year tribulation. He gives warnings; he gives the parable of the fig tree. He warns us to be ready at all times for no man knows the exact hour when all these things will begin. But the rapture will be a major sign that all these things, the judgment on the world, has begun.
I see this differently.... the 2nd coming after the 7 year trib. In the days of Noah the faithful remained and wicked were removed. Thus the 2nd coming... Christ, all of the saints, and the saints gained during the trib are on the earth for the 1000 year reign and the wicked are removed.

I'v noticed you post often in this forum to give support to pre-trib. Why don't you post in the debate section where critcisms can be levelled?
I dont see Jesus teaching about a mystery inheritience anywhere in his earthly ministery to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, a easy target for the pretrib scoffers because they have a point! they are correct in one sense in that the scripture used by pretribbers to prove a mystery that was hid in the mind of God, by "prophetic scriptures" that are not!!! related to the dispensation of Graces end, were in a constant resurrection in that we are allready stated as being seated with Christ and are a Spiritual body that wasnt revealed in the prophetic writtings of Israel kingdom to come, but a inheritence spoke of in few words till Ephesians and colossians are circumcision of the flesh is total we are not of the dead! but the living ,and go to Christ where we are now seated,
I believe Matthew 24 shows the rapture.

(I believe the beginning of sorrows is where we currently are)

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.

....
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

it is critical to note that Jesus is speaking of a GREAT TRIBULATION that the world has not yet seen. He is describing a time of brutal horror and terror. When you paralell Revelation, during the tribulation 1/3 of sea life, vegitation etc. is lost. The water is polluted, etc. What we have is an incredible time of tribulation -- survival will be the center of each persons life.

Now, Jesus shifts the tone to a time like before Noah, where people are eating and drinking and being merry - this does not sound like a great tribulation the world has never seen...but this does sound like a time much like NOW!

Before going there, look at this verse:
Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

if after the great tribulation...when the world has seen such disaster, like never before -- utter darkness comes about the earth - would people be every day as normal? like before the days of Noah?

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

I believe the comments here by Jesus only support a rapture of the church. I believe the final 7 years is the fulfillment of the 70 weeks of daniel, which were for Isreal. this is the final week focussing on Isreal. there are so many more scriptures to support a rapture! this is only the tip of the iceberg!

Edited by: Noadiah at: 1/27/06 2:03 pm

Reedax, Quote:40 Then shall two man be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: 41 two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left

I believe that the one that is taken, is taken to judgement, not to Christ. The one that is left will enter into the milennial kingdom.

The problem with that view is that the two of them are going about their routine business at the time. In other words, what Jesus was describing was not a picture of a time of stress when the one is taken. So that eliminates the time when the world is in great tribulation, just before Jesus returns and sets up the millenial kingdom. People at time won't be going about their business as usual, such as working in the field or grinding at the mill.

I am pre-trib, but the verses that follow.....

17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

.......do have me considering that during the pre-trib rapture that there is not the disappearance of those taken bodies - but that their old bodies sudden fall as dead. Coming out of those old bodies collapsing to the ground in the twinkling of a eye would be the new incorruptible body - the old body acting similar to the husk of a seed being discarded.

Jesus's body was not left in the grave, because the Father said that he would not let His Son's body see corruption - in other words decay. But that same promise is not made to us - the bodies of Christians buried throughout history have surely decayed, some scattered into oblivion, like those killed in explosions. So, IMHO, during the resurrection, the incorruptible body will come forth from they place they died - it is not necessary to reconstitute the old body.

Now if the old bodies don't disappear during the pre-trib Rapture, but fall dead to the ground instead (which would meet Jesus words about where the body is, i.e. drops dead right then and there, the eagles (vultures) will gather)- then the left behind world, now accustomed to the pre-trib train of thought that the bodies would disappear, would at that time say it was something else other than the much publized pre-Rapture because the bodies did not disappear.

I don't know of an bible passage that says the bodies of those who are alive must disappear.

Which would give those Left behind, looking for other reasons, other than the much publized pre-trib rapture, to account for the apparent sudden deaths of millions of people. I think that will be much more easily explained away as compared to the sudden disappearance of those raptured if the rapture took place that way. What do you think?
