gay/straight co-operation club

Postby GILB on Sun Oct 01, 2006 8:57 am

i am a grade nine in a canadian high school called sinclare secondary school(s.s.s) and on monday the anoucment moneters (tv's put up and around the school with a power piont preentation of the anouncments)
had an anouncment that said, and i quote(with the exeptions of a few spelling mistakes) :

gay/straight community co-operation club

meet at lunch(11:30am) in room 225

bring lunch
end quote.( )

later i heard that the school was hireing 5 armed policemen to act as securaty gaurds for this club

it was estamated by a freind of mine on the school news paper that 22 gay students and one gay teacher attended this meating and no straight teachers.

i was disturbed by this because in the bible (again im new to christanity so i will not even try to quote) that being gay is an abomanation and you can burn forever in hell if you commit an abomanation.

so why is a school in a predomanatly christian school district board promoting an act of sin and even protecting the sopposed right to be gay!

there was a report of one of the gangs in the school planning a shoot up but i guess either that was not true and the school overreacted by getting an armed gaurd or the leader of that gang was one of the students who attended this meeting!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Gilb!

Interesting situation.

First, homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord, but he will forgive it like any other sin for those that repent and ask the Lord to be their savior.

Second, when I see "getting along" meetings between the gay and straight community, it always...always...is a set up to teach and promote the homosexual lifestyle. They do not want to get along as we would consider it. By getting along, they mean accept us on our terms and hey, if you hang around long enough, you might give it a try yourself.

My summary above would most likely set the hair on fire of any gay man or woman, they would not agree...but it is the truth.

The enemy knows we are absolutely impervious to direct assualts, that is, the gates of Hell will not prevail against us. Instead, they have to sneak in, like the story about the Trojan horse. This is what they are doing...telling us they are our friends, when in reality they do not care at all about us, only to mingle long enough to cause us to drop our guard.

Dont do it.

Just to clarify, if there is any confusion at all here, being gay (homosexual) is not sin. Practicing homosexual acts is the sin.

Just as being a sinner, is not the sin. Practicing sinful things is the sin.

Hey GLIB,

It is so good and exciting to have you here!

Let me encourage you, young person, to hang in there as a new Christian.

Come visit us here at FP often, and share your experiences.

The gay community and gay agenda is quickly growing. It is fast becoming a part of the world culture.

But Jesus told us not to be a part of it, as it leads to destruction and the gates of hell.

crmann,
"Being gay" does not exist. Our minds are to be set on Him. We are to guard our hearts, our thoughts and passions.....bring them under submission to Him.
We ALL have sin no-one sees......we all have corrupt hearts! If we yield ourselves, though, the Lord can clean them up.
So, there is no "gay".

Hi GLIB,

Since this issue is a big one here in the states too. I thought I would say some things that may not be popular here or any among Christians regarding how we are to treat homosexuals.

If a brother (Christian) continues sinning we are to have nothing to do with him. This is not commanded for sinners and those who have not accepted Christ. So attending such meeting, while I think it unwise for the reasons already stated by others, is not wrong itself.

Part of the difficulty in being a Christian is to know were to draw the line. Christ ate with tax collectors and sinners and was accused of being a drunkard for his consumption of alcoholic beverages. Today, many Christians refuse to drink alcoholic beverages and would not consider attending a luncheon with homosexuals. Contrary to Christ’s example set forth in the Bible, many Christians erect walls around themselves because “Bad Company corrupts good morals”. The erection of the walls is done rightly so because it is for self preservation against temptations and for some simple disgust or inability to see past the sin and see the person instead of the sin.

The difficulty arises from balancing the exercising of justice and mercy while maintaining our moral character. Justice demands treating all equally and we are to be just. The story of King Solomon and the two prostitutes is interesting, not just for the wisdom Solomon displayed in determining which prostitute was the mother of the child, but also for demonstrating that sinners too, even prostitutes, deserve justice from the king and not always condemnation. Remember, from God’s perspective every man except Christ, with NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS is a sinner and because a person breaking one part of the law is guilty of the whole law, my sins are not better than the sin of practicing homosexual behavior.

Mercy is necessary to see past a person’s sin; to see homosexuals as just another sinner caught in their sin just like me, you, or any other Christian used to be (or in some cases still are). Mercy is necessary to see all sinners, including homosexuals, for the lost souls they are. God prefers mercy to sacrifice. One reason why Christians are so hated is because our job on the planet is shed light on sin and evil people prefer darkness where there sins are hidden. Another reason why Christians are hated is because we practice passing judgment upon individuals before it is time. We escape the world and learn to see it for what it is and realizing how horrible it is we pass judgment on those who are where we were not too long ago. It is good that we learn to see but we need to wait until the appropriate time to pass judgment.

To be in the company of homosexuals in the context of this meeting would require a mature Christian with considerable strength and compassion. It is the job for a leader but it is nevertheless a job for a Christian and any Christian with the moral fortitude and strength of character to engage in activities for the purpose of shedding light and sharing Christ or for simply demonstrating that justice is for each and every man, even homosexuals should be supported by the Christian community. Furthermore, no individual, even a homosexual, should not be denied justice by the Christian community. That not withstanding, the action of practicing homosexual behavior should be pointed out as the sin it is.

Unfortunately, few Christians are concerned with exorcizing justice for all men as Solomon did. Few Christians are willing to sit down and eat with tax collectors and sinners. The problem with this is that we sit in judgment before it is time and by doing so we loose those to whom we are sent to witness.

Recognize your limitations and leave attending this type of meeting to mature Christians. After all, “not all men should be teachers”.

Since today's culture isn't Christian in nature, I see no reason why homosexuality wouldn't be expected and tolerated in it. We are Christians living in a non-Christian world, not vice versa. If people could come to understand that, I think many would see a quick drop in their blood pressure. While you ask if we should tolerate homosexuals, remember that the world is at the tail end of its tolerance for Christians. What we will or won't tolerate is largely irrelevant.

Besides, homosexuals are like all the other lost people out there. Only Jesus already knows which are and aren't inherently evil. We should be preaching a message of love and peace to them. Starting off our message to them as "We don't tolerate no homosexuals 'round these here parts!" is really not a productive way to open a dialogue. It's no wonder they ignore the calls of Christianity. We keep telling them Jesus doesn't want them, and even if He does, we don't. You don't have to accept their lifestyle to deliver Jesus' message.

I think the OP is too general. Should Christians "accept" homosexuals? Promote, condone, shun, attend cooperation meetings? No to all of these. But just as we brush shoulders on a day to day basis with liars, adulterers, thieves, cheaters, etc., we miss a precious opportunity to share the gospel if we avoid any sinner.

Let's do the WWJD thing..... Jesus didn't go to heathen temples where male and female prostitutes engaged in illicit activity to witness to them. But as He walked, and encountered them, He spoke with them, shared the love of the Father with them, and encouraged repentence. In His travels, He invited a despised tax collector to follow Him and Matthew became one of His disciples. When he encountered a group ready to stone a adulterous woman, he stopped and ministered to her. When He met those possessed with demons, He cured them.

In our day to day walk, we should never avoid sinners of any kind. But neither should we join groups or clubs reserved specifically for the promotion of their sin.

as I see it......

So often, we see the blind world at large comparing us 'fundamentalists' with the evil ways of Islam. Yet, it is very apparent that the tactics of the sin-loving liberals and such are very much the same as Islamic tactics, less the suicide bombings and such. They both do their evil, infiltrate the countries and systems of those who oppose them, brainwash the masses into a muddled view of tolernace, love, and acceptance while showing zero virtually zero of these qualities themselves for those who oppose them, etc.

I often say that those who cry the loudest for tolerance are often the most intolerant.
And those who are most easily offended are often the most offensive.
Welcome to the 'Me' generation of the last days.

'Fundamentalist.'
Now that titled has always threw me off a bit. Why is it viewed as a terrible thing?
It's like calling a 3d grader a fundamentalist for knowing and learning the fundamentals of grammer in the grade school he or she attends.

Hold strong, and always remember that like the many of us, the Lord has placed you in this school to be a light in a dark place.

Keep on shining for Him.

Until He comes.

~Hillclimber.
If you saw Jesus on the street,
Would you recognize His Face?
If He opened His Arms,
Would you meet His embrace?
Would you repent of your sins,
With your deepest, heartfelt sorrow?
Or would you instead walk away,
And forget His Face tomorrow? ~Hillclimber.

Because fundamentalists stand against relativists (and of course other fundamentalists that do not support their own views).

When Christian fundamentalism reigns, it puts the squeeze on those that oppose God directly or indirectly.

This is why we are in the same boat as Muslim fanatics as far as the world at large is concerned.

Joymart,

Your statement:
crmann, "Being gay" does not exist.

I understand what you are saying. But in the mind of our society, gay does exist, and there are many who consider themselves to be gay. If I am to communicate in this society, I must use its language.

Surely you would agree?

I wonder where the term "being gay" came from then. Surely it was much easier for people to say "I'm gay" rather than to come right out and say, yes, I am in a relationship with another male or another female.

Can anyone help me out here? Who was the first person to use the term "I'm gay." Just curious of its origin.

I agree, we should be "in the world" NOT "of the world."

GILB,

I am always concerned about a young christian being outspoked in a public school.
You are understanding the relationship between God and homosexuals correctly.

Let me consider your words:
no questions asked about it being gay is WRONG!

The question here is, wrong in whose whose opinion? Yours or theirs? You are an intelligent young person, so I know you are not going to go up to these young people and tell them they are wrong.

Let's look at a few of the many scriiptures which tell us homosexuality is a sin, an abomination to God.

1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:10
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders... (1 Cor. 6:9, NIV)

GILB, please notice in the above scripture that each sinner mentioned is practicing that sin. We are all sinners. Some of us may have been thieves, or liars, or gossipers, or disobedient children, but today we no longer practice those things. Being attracted to the same sex is not a sin. But practicing the homosexual lifestyle is a sin.

Sinners who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb, will enter God's kingdom.

Sinners who practice sinning, any kind of sin, will never enter God's kingdom.

Just the thoughts of an old timer....
