I Have Close Family With Mental Illness, It's Heartbreaking!

Could you please pray for me and my family? I have very close family members with serious mental illnesses. It is excruciatingly painful and I really just can't bear to elaborate more than to say that.

I am in the same boat ... my son Jonathan has been in and out of the mental hospital since last fall.


Two things I know ...

God is sovereign.
All His ways are perfect.

praying for your loved one- I know more than a few people who have had family members with some form of mental illness, it is so difficult to deal with. You feel so powerless to help, and their illness has such an impact on their families. I will surely pray for wisdom for treatment, and that somehow the Lord will bring healing to their mind and peace to you as you hurt for them and all involved.

Many thanks for your prayers! Yes, you just feel so helpless (and hopeless)! It's devastating...you see their lives falling apart all around you, everyone being affected so much, including you, yet there is nothing you can do but pray about it. Many days I just wish so badly that the Lord would take us all up, I can't stand it! Sometimes I think I can't bear it another minute and it's so, so painful to think of how much the person is suffering and see them suffer like that.

So sorry to hear that you are depressed, perhaps you need to seek some counseling for yourself, to help you better deal with it all?? Sometimes life can just be so overwhelming, and the problems seem so insurmountably huge. It might benefit you to have a third party to bounce your thoughts off of who can help prop you up emotionally and spiritually. Depression can cause us to isolate ourselves in the time when we really need others around to support us. Please get some help for yourself. And know that you have folks here at FP holding you up in prayer.
