Osteen referred to as "new age" in secular article

Amazing and sad that the secular media can see it and yet there are plenty of christians who don't... :(

The need for hope in tough times can manifest itself in many ways.

Some suggest that it's a longing for inspiring leadership that has led to the success of such new-age television clergy as best-selling author Joel Osteen.

Osteen's 17,0000-plus congregation in Houston is now housed in an arena that was formerly the home of the NBA's Houston Rockets.

"He has tapped into the desire of (congregations) in the times we live in who are hungry to be inspired and uplifted instead of being sermonized about hell and damnation," said USC religion professor Leo Braudy.

"About the time of the end, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the prophecies, & insist on their literal interpretations, in the midst of much clamor & opposition."

You call a spade a spade, huh?
Standfast therefore in the Liberty which Christ has made you free
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

 An exurb from article submitted by Final Trumpet. A quotation by Osteen.

Osteen himself said these times call for religious and secular leaders who call upon the better angels of people's nature.

"My message is a message of hope that God is a good God, and that no matter what we've done, where we've been, God has a great plan for our lives," Osteen said in an e-mail.

MY COMMENT: Whatever "angels of people's nature" means???? Never heard that one before. There's no angel in any of us. In fact this is what the Word of God says about what is inside of us.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is desperately wicked: who can know it?

v.10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, (considered as the source of emotions, feelings, or affections) even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

There's nothing about Jesus in what Osteen says, "God has a great plan for our lives". That great plan only takes place in our lives when the Lord Jesus Christ is part of our life.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY:
PROCLAIMING THE TRUTH (see profile) John 17:17 Sanctify (set apart) them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

angels of people's nature....

 He lifts a Bible up at the beginning of his show, and that is the only time it or anything written in it , is mentioned.

He does have a plan for each of us.... each of us will give Him the glory in some way. We'll either be demonstrations of His mercy or we'll be demonstrations of His justice.
