Cracks in our foundation

Cracks in our foundation

Postby trafield2 on Sun May 22, 2005 12:43 am

Several years ago, while having a pool dug for our home, we had our driveway boken and cracked by the bulldozer used to dig our pool. I had already released the pool company of liability in the contract before they started working on the pool, so for years I wondered about how I could get this repaired.
"Surely there must be some kind of product that I could patch it with without replacing the whole driveway," I would say to myself.
I would wonder, and then wonder some more. Finally one day, while at the Home Depot for another project, I decided to take a look and see if there was anything that I could use for my driveway woes. I quickly found a mortar compound that would bond strongly to existing concrete and that ended up being a great solution to a potentially costly repair.

God used this simple life experience to speak to me that we all have cracks in our foundation that needs repairing. But these crack will not be repaired if we just sit back and wonder about them and talk about them. Unless we go seeking the solution and seeking that "mortar" that can repair the cracks, the cracks will not only remain...they will grow and spread to other cracks until you have a bunch of broken pieces.

We need to seek after Jesus Christ, and let His Spirit and Words of truth be the mortar that reapairs the cracks and brokeness in our lives. Our God is faithful, and there is no crack too large and no piece too broken that His glorious "mortar" cannot mend.

May the Words of our Lord encourage you and give you hope today,
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30 “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Isaiah 58:6-12
6“Is this not the fast which I choose,
To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the bands of the yoke,
And to let the oppressed go free
And break every yoke?
7“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8“Then your light will break out like the dawn,
And your recovery will speedily spring forth;
And your righteousness will go before you;
The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.'
If you remove the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
10And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.
11“And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
12“Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;
You will raise up the age-old foundations;
And you will be called the repairer of the breach,
The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.
15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Revelation 21:1-5
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
4and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
5And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”

Edited by: trafield2 at: 5/22/05 3:47 am
