Rapture??

So for the believers that don't believe in the "rapture"..... what does it exactly look like when Jesus comes?
and for them.... what is their eschatology?
Do posttribbers believe in the rapture?

As a post-trib believer, I believe this picture (one of many beautiful artistic endeavors) depicts what 'every eye' will see at the end of the Tribulation, the Lord coming on the clouds with a host of angels to avenge God's people. We, alive at this time along with those before us, who were 'sleeping', will be changed in 'the twinkling of an eye' (the rapture) and will then join this army to defeat Satan and his followers in the battle of Armageddon. We then spend one thousand years on the earth with our Lord and Savior as king.
(this description leaving out the finer details in order to answer your question in its simplest form.)

So what does it mean then when a postribber says he does not believe in the rapture? I have a hard to access pastor who I believe is a premil/postrib, but mentions that he does not believe in the rapture.
Awesome picture btw.

Hi Finaldash,

I don't have all the answers, but this thread reflects my belief about the "rapture." It may be of some help to you. I can't really label myself as post-trib, but can say that I don't believe in a rapture.

Interesting discussion on the link. Aside from that I'm also starting to realize that amils and postmils also do not believe in the rapture. Is there a twist where a prewrather will have or can have this viewpoint?

What do you mean?

Well, I'm always a bit leery of labels because there are variants with each premil, amil, postmil and pre, mid, post trib as well as prewrath. While someone may define themselves under one label, they will often point out an exception in one area or another.

It seems easier for me to say how I do see scripture regarding the "rapture" and what I disagree with than the other way around using terms that many don't seem to fit into precisely. So with that said, I simply do not see a rapture as a catching away to heaven as a God-ordained escape from wrath. I see a changing from mortal to immortal, perishable to imperishable....in other words (as Paul said in 1 Cor. 15 ) changed from a natural body to a spiritual body.

I think the link I posted provides my views on the words clouds, "up" heavens, air, etc. in 1 Thess. normally used as the basis for the rapture of believers to heaven during God's wrath on the earth.

As these 2 verses are primarily used to support a rapture, all I have been able to glean from them (without reading into the text) is that Jesus comes in the clouds, we meet Him, and are changed.

Since Rev. 21 records a new heaven and new earth descending and that's where God will tabernacle with mankind and this is our final abode, without scripture that supports leaving the earth for an unspecified time and returning, we need to re-examine the popular, current teaching of escape from the earth.

Hope that helps a little.
