It's all about the drama, he is an actor playing his part.

Do you really believe that these so called "secret plans" of the oil cartel were really so secret, they would be letting this two bit baptist preacher spill the beans?

Either the guy is making it all up or he is a willing or unwitting front man to disseminate information on purpose, what that purpose might be? Could be a lot of things, who knows? But I do not believe that the money and power holders of the world would let this guy talk unless they had a reason for it.
