Excellent historical analysis, comparing Solana/WEU to Ashton/EASS well.

What an excellent find James!

If I didn't know any better I would think that the author of this article was campaigning for Javier Solana to be given "power to continue" for 42 months. (Revelation 13:5)

Does sound that way, doesn't it ? Almost an invitation, or a plea.

God Bless You

David
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

We were very used to reading praise for Solana like this when he was around, and yes it does seme like a plea, particularly attractive was also his low cost approach - something very relevant now of course!

Solana had created an excellent network of contacts, and he only came forward when he knew that he would not be publicly contradicted (he never was). He also had a good politician’s knack for identifying what on the international scene mattered most to Europeans. He came to be widely known as “Mr CFSP,” a feat made possible because although the CFSP itself had little to show, he himself was very impressive.

I am not as anxious/excited to see whether or not Solana was/is the one as I was in the past, but I will keep watching in this direction. But if it is soon surely he represents the blueprint for what we can expect.
