Today's Palestinian election wasn't only a contest between the six official candidates, it was also a contest between the moderates who want peace and the radicals who don't. Here's why this is the case. The terrorist organization Hamas boycotted the elections making the issue of voter turn-out more important than who won. You see, it was expected that Mahmoud Abbas would win. However, as far as the enemies of peace like Hamas were concerned, it was important Abbas not win by enough votes as to have a mandate for peace. In other words, it was as if Hamas was in this election too. If the voters stayed home, Hamas and the radicals would win. If voters turned out, the moderates for peace would win. Well, according to this report, the exit poles show Abbas won by 66-70% of the vote Read about it here. That means he has won his mandate. The Palestinian people want peace. I can't help but think again of those words by the Apostle Paul. While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" By the way, you may have noticed my absence. Linda and I were away for our daughter's wedding. Then a very wet southern California storm closed the road and kept us from returning as planned. This is the longest I've been away from a computer since I started FulfilledProphecy. It's good to be back. 01-09-05
