If nothing else, 9/11 should have taught us something: There's no such thing as almost total war. But, that appears to be the war the West is wanting to fight Read about it here. And, in my opinion, a half-hearted attempt at war is too dangerous.

That's one reason I believe my generation lost in Vietnam. Only half of us were really at war. While half of us were in country struggling to survive, the other half were home eating fries and cruising the circuit.

In fact, that's why I became a Christian. I believe in total war. Yes, I'm an American. But, I'm a Christian first. My reasoning is simple: Since our ultimate enemy is spiritual, our ultimate weapon is spiritual (Eph. 6: 12). And, when push comes to shove, I'll reach for the ultimate weapon.

But, that doesn't mean I don't believe in physical weapons. Sometimes they're necessary. For example, take a look at what's going on in the Middle East Read about it here. Iran is staring us down. We're telling them them they can't, they're telling us they can. Question: Can we, the world's last and only superpower, afford to let that stand? Unfortunately, I don't think so. Here's why:

Sometimes what's worse than power is power vacuum. If you don't think so, take a look at what's going on in Iraq. The same can be said of our world. If America were to do as some want, just pack up everywhere and go home, something would quickly fill the vacuum. And, I believe the Bible tells us what that something is. This brings us to what I think.

Even some of our enemies don't want America to suddenly disappear. What they prefer instead is that we go away gradually, handing them power as we go. This, I suspect, might even be said of some of our so-called allies. If you doubt what I'm saying, do a Google search and take a slow look at the Western European Union's Assembly Recommendations 759-766. 

You will find a 10-nation alliance in Western Europe seeking control over the vast European Union's foreign and security interests. You will also see how they wish to meet all aspects of the so-called Helsinki Headline Goal 2010, and implement all parts of Javier Solana's European Security Strategy -- including the creation of a new, international order.

Now, ask yourself, why do these 10 nations really seek a new, international order? Do you really think it's for the common good of all? Or, could it be for the common good of their alliance?

Friends, this is all I'm saying: 9/11 should have taught us something. Our enemy is fighting a total war. And, a half-hearted response won't be enough.

We need to go spiritual.
