I feel like I'm watching popping popcorn. That's how fast peace plans seem to be popping up to end the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. No sooner had President George Bush finished revealing his plans to bring democracy to the whole Middle East region, Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah announced he had come up with another plan himself. This is his second Read about it here. Just a few days ago the EU's High Representative Javer Solana was scheduled to meet with Yossi Beilin, one of the authors of the Geneva Accords. If you recall, this is an unofficial plan that is gaining much respectability. Why is it gaining respectability? Because it is widely believed important players are behind it -- such as the EU and Israeli left. And yesterday Israeli Prime Minister Sharon said he was willing to permanently removed the wall Israel is constructing between Israelis and Palestinians if true peace could be established. This is what I think: America's war against terror has stirred up the Middle East log jam. As a result, there is major movement in many areas -- including the Israeli/Palestinian peace process. Suddenly, important regional blocks of power are rushing for their place around the Middle East peace table. A table where a place for the coming Roman Prince may be set. Stay tuned! 01-25-04
