As I reported before, last minute changes to the EU's new constitution may have left a door open for Javier Solana's 10 nation military alliance (Read about it here). And, as I said then, I don't think this door was left standing open by accident (Read my commentary here). Yesterday, I posted a link to a report in the EUoberver that said the bad four -- Belgium, Germany, France and Luxembourg -- still were pushing for their so-called "hard core" Europe (Read about it here). The reason I call these nations the "bad four" is because they want to create their own defense group separate from both the EU and NATO. And, if the bad four get their way, it would undermine -- if not destroy -- the Atlantic alliance. Fortunately, there are other EU member states who so far oppose the bad four. The most vocal in opposition to the creation of a hard core European defense group has been Britain's Tony Blair. Blair, if you recall, was a strong supporter of president Bush and America's war against Iraq. The result, unfortunately, were countless cartoons throughout Europe depicting Blair as Bush's pet poodle. This brings us to an interesting question: What does the Bible say about the new, super EU? Well, the prophecies indicate the EU will become a beast all right -- but not a poodle. In fact, not only will it become the last head of the great red dragon, it will have 10 horns. In other words, the bad four may get their way. Now the Financial Times posted an article that not only suggest the possibility of a hard core defense group appearing, it says if it happens, "the advent of Europe as a force on the world stage may happen faster than some imagine" (Read about it here) (A subscription site). As I said before, I think there is more going on here than is commonly understood. I suspect there may be a move on the part of certain members of Solana's 10-nation military alliance to take control of the new, super EU coming on the scene. Stay tuned. 07-16-03
