I wonder if we students of prophecy could be caught right now between history and future. Let me explain: It's being reported Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt said the so-called "gang of four" will go ahead with their plans to create an independent military command outside NATO (Read about it here). If you recall, soon after Britain, Spain and Portugal broke ranks and held their summit in the Azores to show their supported for America in the Iraqi war, Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg held a mini summit of their own in Brussels. What was the reason for their mini summit? These four nations wanted to establish their own military headquarters outside NATO. In other words, they wanted nothing to do with supporting American vitals interests in the Mediterranean as did Britain, Spain and Portugal. The reason this interests me is because this disagreement over the Atlantic Alliance is in the EU's new 10 nation military wing. This being the case, I believe it's possible these events could actually be setting the stage for another major fulfillment of end-times prophecy. Here's the situation: The new, super EU is coming. The big question is, who or what will control it? The smaller states don't want the bigger states dominating them, and the bigger states don't want the smaller states dominating them. The result is the bizarre political dance we are now witnessing. We students of prophecy may not understand all the details, but we do know ultimately where this is all going. It's going to a revival of the old Roman Empire under 10 kings. We also know one man will appear among the 10 kings. And, on his rise to power, he will subdue three kings (Daniel 7:23-24). No, I'm not saying for sure this is what's going to happen in the situation we're now seeing in Europe. However, I do feel the need to point out some things that have already happened that appear to be in line with God's word to the prophet Daniel.
In other words, we could be caught right now between history and future. Stay tuned! 09/03/2003
