According to this report, Kofi Annan is calling for the international community to get the job done restructuring the UN Security Council by September Read about it here. Time may be short for the three horns if, in fact, they are the so-called "EU big three." I'm speaking about the UK's Prime Minister Tony Blair, France's President Jacques Chirac and Germany's Chancellor Gerhard Shroeder. My reason is, all three of these leaders were on the scene in 1999 when the Office of High Representative first became occupied. And, the Bible tells us, the Antichrist will pull three of "the first horns" on his rise to power. The passage says: After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts (Daniel 7: 7-8 New American Standard Bible). That's why I'm interested in seeing how the Security Council will look after the restructuring is over. You see, the EU big three are involved. France and Britain, both nations permanent members on the Security Council already, are naturally backing Germany getting a seat. Italy is strongly against Germany getting a seat and, instead, is backing the EU getting a seat. In other words, Italy is pushing for Javier Solana to get a seat. This may set the stage nicely for the type of power struggle the Bible predicts. The wild card is the US. Notice, in the report, the US wasn't backing Germany. And, Collin Powel said the US doesn't forget its friends, suggesting the US may back Italy on this issue. Why? Because, Italy supported the US in the Iraqi War. Now, Annan is saying that, whatever is decided about the Security Council, it has to be done come September. And, from September, it's not long until November. If you recall, that's when Solana is planning his big party celebrating the 10th anniversary of his Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Peace. He has also promised a surprise announcement. Stay tuned! 03-20-2005
