What Herb thinks
Endgame

A journey needs a destination. Any good business plan requires a goal. Evidently, the EU's Javier Solana believes formulating a strategy to bring peace is no different. Solana believes what's lacking in the Middle East peace process is an "endgame" Read about it here.

When I think about it, however, I don't see much difference in what Solana is saying and some others. If you recall, Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have already been pushing to bypass the Road Map and go straight to final status. Solana is actually saying the same thing. The only difference is, Solana is saying it a little smarter. Who can say no to having an endgame?

You see, everyone needs an endgame. We need to know where we're going and what is our goal. Even God has an endgame. The Bible tells us that God doesn't want anyone to perish. That's why God sent His Son to die for the world's sins. And, that's why God gave us Bible prophecy -- so we can convince people to believe the Bible's message and be saved.

Today I had another call from someone who said their church didn't teach Bible prophecy. I couldn't even count the callers who have said this. I can understand how Bible prophecy may not be a primary focus. But, I can't understand how, in good conscience, the subject can be totally ignored. Yet, in so many of our modern American churches that's the case. And when prophecy is taught, it's usually a dusted off, out of date teaching from 25 or more years ago. Friends, it's no wonder that God's people have become exactly as Jesus predicted -- both spiritually and politically asleep (Matt. 25:1-13).

If you are a pastor of church and reading this, I would like to ask you to show me where I'm wrong. Tell me where I've missed it and correct me in my mistakes. Even if we don't agree, at least I will know that someone besides me is out there and concerned.

You see, now more than ever, we must start using all the tools that God gives us to win as many to Christ as possible. And, in most urgent fashion, we must strengthen the brethren. My fellow worker: It's my very strong belief that the entire end-time scenario is before us. If I'm right, very soon the war against God's people will begin and few -- as our Lord warned -- will be as prepared as they now think. It's time we address these issues.

We have an endgame too.
