What Herb thinks

"From Jesus With Love"

This week the state of Israel celebrates both her Memorial Day, and her Independence Day. During these festivities the Israeli people remember their fallen citizens and soldiers and reflect on what their nation has to be thankful for over the last year.

The chief of the Israeli Defense Forces, Moshe Ya'alon, thinks Israel has much to be thankful for this Memorial Day. According to Haaretz, Ya'alon sees the American lead victory in Iraq as a positive event. Ya'alon says, "The Iraqi threat has been removed, thanks to the United States; Syria will think twice before igniting the northern border" (Read about it here).

The IDF chief also said the recent internal changes in the the Palestinian Authority were "authentic." However, he went on to say something interesting. He said he thought the greatest threat the new Palestinian Prime Minister, Abu Mazen, faced was from Yasser Arafat, not Islamist extremists.

The reason Ya'alon's words interested me was because, if you've been following my commentaries, you know for some time now I've suspected there could be an EU terror connection. One reason I feel this way is because if it hadn't been for the continuing economic and political support of the EU, Arafat would have been sidelined from the peace process a long time ago. In fact, just recently the EU ministers went out of their way to once again show their continuing support for Arafat even after the installment of the new Palestinian Prime Minister (Read about it here).

Now I have another reason for believing their could be an EU terror connection. Ya'alon went on to talk about some of the things Israel didn't have to be thankful for. One of these things were the terrorist that always suddenly appeared from Europe at the most critical times of peace negotiations.

According to the Haaretz, Ya'alon said, " last week's attack in Tel Aviv once again proved, is being supported by terrorists from Europe ... They have always been inserted at particular political-diplomatic moments in Israel."

So, as Israel reflects on the past year and the things she has to be thankful for, she can be thankful to have a Christian friend in America who continues to stand beside her.

However, Israel still has some things not to be so thankful for -- such as her post-Christian so-called friends in Europe who seem to always side with those who are against her.

This being the case, you would think by now the Israeli people would have figured out who their only true friend is in this world.

In fact, this Memorial Day they should concider the removal of Saddam as a gift that is signed,

"From Jesus with love."
