The Apostle Paul reminds us that we see in a glass (mirror) darkly. Paul says that this will be our condition until Jesus returns (1 Cor. 13:12). Why is that? Why is it we saved, born again Christians can't arrive at the whole truth about things? Why do we continue to fight and disagree? I'll tell you what I think. There is treachery in our hearts. You see, the same heart with which we love our Lord and Savior deceives us. And, the worst of these deceptions is for us to think we're something while we're not. This is what Jesus confronted while speaking to the religions leaders of Israel. They thought they were something they were not. They thought that, because they observed all the feasts and Temple ceremonies, they were right with God. Jesus knew they weren't. He knew what lay hidden in their hearts. Aren't we like that? Don't we Christians seek forgiveness through confession and the blood of Christ while, at the same time, sin lay hidden in our hearts? If so, how are we different from those who crucified our Lord? So, we see in a glass darkly. It will be so until He comes. Come Lord Jesus! 12-08-05
