Handing Road Map to Rome?

You know what? I once was horrified to learn that I actually helped fulfill end-times Bible prophecy. How did I do that? I did it by voting for Ronald Reagan.

The sixties was a cauldron of all kinds of evil in America. And for me, what made the evil stand out so much was having grown up in the prior decade of the innocent fifties.

When Ronald Reagan came on the scene with his promises to restore America's image in the world and rebuild her military, I was delighted. And, having barely survived the liberal sixties, if I could have voted for Reagan a thousand times, I would have done it.

Reagan fulfilled his promises. As far as I was concerned, Reagan made America stand proud again. Not only did he restore America's image in the world, his military build-up ultimately led to the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise of the United States as the last super power.

But, that's when it happened -- the fulfillment of prophecy. As I watched the Berlin Wall being torn down, the realization suddenly came to me. Now that the Cold War was finally over, Europe could once again be united. In other words, now the door was open for the rise of the Antichrist. And, by voting for Ronald Reagan, I helped open it.

Here's my point: Just because somebody is seen doing something that may help fulfill the Bible prophecies, that doesn't necessarily mean that person is on the side of evil. In fact, I've come to believe that sometimes prophecy is fulfilled by people doing the right thing.

As you may know, I'm very concerned about America's role in the implementation of the road map peace plan. I fear it could lead America to God's judgment and Israel's harm.

And, I'm not alone thinking this way. The Haaretzdaily posted an article that predicted the Bush administration would soon be shifting its policy away from a forced implementation of the road map because of coming pressure expected from the religious right (Read about it here). According to the report, Bush has an election next year, and he'll be needing their support.

At the same time, the EUobserver is reporting that the new Italian presidency will be increasing the EU's role in the Middle East peace process (Read about it here).

This is what I think: For every step the Bush administration steps back from the road map, Javier Solana will gladly step in. After all, the road map was the EU's idea in the first place. And, it's only natural they want to finish it.

So, is the religious right helping to fulfill prophecy by handing the road map to Rome?

Perhaps. But that doesn't mean they're not doing the right thing.

Pray for Israel.
