It seems that North Korea's little Kim Jong-Il has suddenly found himself the focal point of the world's wrath. Even China, North Korea's old war buddy, is stepping back from the disdainful glare of the international community. Perhaps NATO's Jaap de Hoop Scheffer expressed the feelings best. Scheffer was reported to have said: “It [Kim's nuclear test] flies in the face of the international community.” Interestedly, adding weight to Scheffer's words, he expressed his views about Kim's test after consulting with the EU's Javier Solana Read about it here. Does it make a difference what NATO and EU officials think? I believe it does. You see, much of the free world regards America's leadership a total failure. One article I read pointed out that all three nations that President Bush identified as the axis of evil are more of a problem today than they were when Bush made his statement. If you are a frequent reader at FP, where this may be going should be obvious. If you recall, in March of 2003 the so-called "Berlin Plus" arrangement was finalized giving the EU full access to NATO assets. This agreement came about as a result of a new strategic partnership growing between the EU and the US. Later in 2003 Solana introduced his new three-part security doctrine for the EU. And, only a few days later, the EU and the US entered into a treaty regarding combining their efforts in the war against terror. Elements of this treaty remain secret to this day. When I look at these events through the eyes of Bible prophecy, this is how I see it: The EU -- under Solana's leadership -- has stepped on to the global stage in order to push the US off. And, North Korea's recent action is only making the transition easier Read about it here. If America can't deal with the world's problems anymore, perhaps the EU can. As I've been reporting, part of Solana's security doctrine calls for the creation of a new international order. Solana wants to change the world's system of laws and establish a new global oversight entity within a strengthened United Nations. Kim Jong-Il may help it happen. 10-10-2006
