The 21 member Arab League put a sudden stop to the French and American proposal that after a cease-fire is reached, international forces -- mostly of European -- would be deployed into the region Read about it here. Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, pictured above, appeared after the Security Council meeting and made it clear that he was a player. As I watched yesterday as Amr responded to questions, it came to me what we could be seeing -- the new "king of the South" that's foretold in the ancient prophecies of Daniel. The reason I say "new" is because this southern king appears more than once in Daniel's prophecies in chapter 11. As a result, there is debate over when certain reference to this king are past or future. It's my view they are all past except Daniel 11:40. However, when I read Daniel 11:27, it's hard to shake the idea we're talking about the same southern king. And, in a way I think we are. Let me illustrate what I mean by an old clipping I found tucked away in a Bible. As I write I'm hearing reports Israeli forces are massing on the Lebanese border preparing for what's being called a "deeper push" into Lebanon Read about it here. As you may know, this is not the first time Israeli troops have been forced to enter and occupy Lebanon. In the clipping above we see an IDF map of the area in Lebanon that Israel occupied on June, 13, 1982. Now, notice the handwritten note along the edge that says, "The cease-fire was broken today with the PLO". Friends, what we're seeing is the same war with Israel's same spiritual enemy. The only difference is the name. Instead of PLO, this time it's Hezbollah. Bible prophecy reveals this war from it's ancient origins in the Garden of Eden to it's ultimate conclusion with the return of Israel's long awaited Messiah. So, when we read about the King of the South suddenly appearing in this modern version of the old conflict, we shouldn't be surprised. In fact, we should have been expecting him. From now on in this crisis, whatever happens in the UN Security Council, the Arab League will be at the table. If the Europeans want to extend their influence into the Middle East region, an agreement will have to first be reached with Amr Moussa. The new king of the South. 08-09-2006
