What Herb thinks
King of South at Int'l Court

Today is the opening of hearings at the International Court of Justice at The Hague. At issue is the legality of the fences and walls being constructed by the Israeli government to protect their citizens from terrorists.

Although the finding of the Court will carry no legal authority, the Israeli government fears the possible UN Security Council resolution that could follow.

And here is a prime example of diplomatic double talk. The  Palestinian Authority filed the charges against Israel. However, their primary financial backer -- the European Union -- refused to publicly back the Palestinian's case in the Court. Why?

The answer to me is obvious. Although the EU sides with the Palestinian cause, they also are at a new stage in the Middle East peace process. At long last the peace process appears to be shifting in their direction, and they don't want to do anything to stop the momentum.

This is where the King of the South comes in. If you've been following my commentaries, you know I suspect Amr Moussa could be the foretold King of the South (Daniel 11: 25-27). Moussa is the Secretary General of the 22 nation Arab League. And Moussa will be present at The Hague in support of the Palestinians Read about it here

Besides being the EU High Representatives Javier Solana's professed friend, Moussa has a dream. He wants to turn the Arab League into an Arab Union patterned after the European Union. Recently he requested that the EU host the talks that would accomplish his dream in Brussels.

If these talks were to occur, common sense tells us Solana would be present. In other words, Solana and Moussa would be sitting around the same table just like prophecy predicts the Antichrist will do with the King of the South.

Back to today's hearings at the International Court. Israel won't be represented. Why? I'm not sure. I think Israel may already know the outcome will be against her. So, the only move open to Israel is to not recognize the Courts authority in the first place.

How does Israel know this? Because, although publicly the international community has been mostly silent about what the Palestinians are doing at The Hague, Israel is able to judge the intentions of the international community by their actions. After all, they are the ones who have been setting the rules of the game.

And sadly, Israel must play along.
