What Herb thinks
Kissinger's Final Hour

Back in October it was reported the incoming EU presidency of Angela Merkel may push for the establishment of a hugh free trade zone between the EU and the US. What caught my interest, besides the prophetic significance, was who the report said the idea was coming from; "No one less than Henry Kissinger."

..

It looks like the October report was right. Today it's reported that Merkel, on her coming trip to Washington, will be pitching Kissinger's scheme to President George Bush Read about it here  I  And here. And, if Bush OKs the idea -- which I suspect may be a given, Kissinger's market of markets may soon become a reality.

The report also suggests the idea came to Merkel as a complete novelty. Merkel was reported to have said Kissinger's plan was a "fascinating idea."

Adding weight to Merkel's call for a transatlantic free trade zone is the fact that, as of January 1, besides representing the hugh bloc of 27 nations known as the EU, Merkel became president of the economically and politically powerful G-8 group of nations. Friends, this accident of rotation may have placed Merkel in an almost unprecedented position from which -- in possibly modern history's final years -- to shape our world's future.

No, I'm not surprised to see that familiar name reappear. As so many times in the days gone by, once again Kissinger may have managed to seize the hour.

Stay tuned!
