Yesterday I couldn't post a commentary. Why? Because it rained. And, when it rains, for some strange reason, my phone sometimes stops working. Today the phone is working again. That means, my connection to the World Wide Web is restored and I can once again communicate my thoughts. Friends, that's the way life is. It is full of contradictions. One day we are alive, active and playing our role within a world in which we believe we have been called. The next day we are set aside, as if we've never even existed. In Europe we see the same. On the one hand, we see the real possibility that some very important nations, such as Britain and France, may reject the EU's new Constitution Read about it here. On the other hand, we see Javier Solana's fledgling defense agency making more headway on the road to re-militarize a united Europe Read about it here. We students of Bible prophecy are looking past these seeming contradictions. No, we don't know if the EU's Constitution will ever officially enter into force. But, we may know what the Bible predicts -- the rise of a strong new European military and political leader who will confirm a covenant with many for seven years. So, we keep our eyes on what we believe the eternal Word of God says, and not each new twist and turn in world affairs. Yes, life here on earth is full of contradictions. That's why God's people can't be swayed by every new political event, or circumstance, that is bound to pop up before them. As the Apostle Paul says, our eyes should remain focused beyond those things that are directly before us and on Jesus, who is seated at the right hand of the Father -- who is our ultimate destination and goal. No, that doesn't mean we don't recognize and take care of our urgent and immediate needs. It means, by an act of continuing faith, we don't allow the cares of our life to get in the way of God's eternal purpose. God has a plan for everyone of His children. That includes you and me. As far as I am concerned, here's another contradiction. Soon, according to the facts before me, my ability to post daily commentary at FulfilledProphecy may be threatened. At the same time, the ministry is really taking off. By the time this month is over, FulfilledProphecy will have reached over 2 1/2 million hits for the month. And, this number is not even counting our discussion board. If those numbers were added, as is the case with some of the other end-times sites, we would have over twice the amount of hits to report. Like I said, life is full of contradictions. But, unlike the citizens of the world, who, as the song says, are riding high in April and shot down in May, God's people continue. They continue as they have since the dawn of humankind. Why? Because their eyes aren't on the contradictions of life. Instead, they are looking beyond. By faith, they can already see those things that were promised to them. They see Jesus, seated at the right hand of His Father. And, they see the throne of God. 03-29-2005
