What Herb thinks
Mideast Super Bowl

Like many Americans, I like football and enjoyed this year's Super Bowl. However, I don't enjoy the sport the way I once did. For one thing, it's been a long time since my hands last held the ball. For another, I haven't kept up with the teams and the players. And since I don't gamble, I've nothing invested in the game's outcome.

My two big interests now, as you may know, are reading the Bible and watching world events. Just like football, the more I apply what I learn in the Bible, and the more I know about the world's teams and players, the more interesting it gets. And as far as having something invested, I know of nothing more valuable than my eternal soul.

Most realize by now that today's world events are heading toward a climax. People in the know understand things can't continue as they are. Fear is gripping world leaders as never before. If you think the Super Bowl was something, wait until you see what's coming. The Bible tells us that, in the last of the last days, after Israel has been restored from among the nations, all the nations of earth will gather against the God of the Bible and God's chosen in the Holy Land. Friends, already we see beginning what the Bible predicts.

If your reading this and your not a Christian, it's time wake up and smell the biblical roses. There is a way to survive the foretold and apparent coming clash of civilisations. From the very beginning of civilisations, God has always provided His people a way of escape. It may not have always been a physical escape. Nevertheless, God's escape has always been there. And today, even in this modern, fear driven world, it's no different. God has provided a way. And the way He provides remains the same -- it's the way of faith.

You see, the Bible reveals the difference between the people of God and the rest. God's people are the ones who believe that God will do what He says -- who have faith in His Word. That's why we Christians believe in the prophecies of the Bible. And that's why we sometimes might even know beforehand where certain world events are going. If you are a regular reader here at FP, you know what I'm saying is true.

The Bible tells us that our way of escape today is provided by what God's Only Son Jesus did on the cross. It was there Jesus died for the sins of the entire world. But, in order to participate in God's way of escape, we must apply our faith to what God says. We must believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It's that difficult and it's that easy. You see, on this act of faith our eternal destiny depends.

Yes, we're seeing world events heading toward a climax. And long ago the Bible told us that in the last of the last days these events would happen. That means it won't be long until we all see the Lord. So for me, as a Christian, today's events are exciting.

It's my Mideast Super Bowl.
