This editorial in today's Guardian points out what my dad long said -- not only the EU's aspirations for becoming a global superpower, but also that the EU's real motive for its European Neighborhood Policy is to secure Arab oil. You see, Europe -- like America -- is dependent on Arab oil. Its professed concern about human rights violations is only a front. This isn't surprising, but is ironic given Europe's accusations that oil is what drives America's actions in the Middle East. The Bible predicted long ago that Israel would be the focal point of all the world (Zechariah 12:2-3). Back then, of course, no one knew that oil would be the cause. If you haven't read the late John Walvoord's book Armageddon, Oil and the Middle East Crisis, I encourage you to do so. It explains how the Middle East crisis threatens the free flow of Arab oil and why enforcing peace in the region is crucial to protecting that flow. Though Walvoord had some different ideas about how the end times would
come together, his main argument supports what's been reported here on
FP.
