What Herb thinks
Not Enough Indians

In America we have a saying for when there are too many leaders. We say: "There are too many chiefs and not enough Indians." Friends, when I listen to America's modern evangelical leaders, that's what I think; We don't have enough Indians.

What stirred my thinking this morning was reading the transcript of a recent interview Larry King had with one of our most popular evangelical leaders. The things this leader said were truly disturbing. It was evident that not only was this leader ignorant of the subject of Bible prophecy, he was ignorant to what was actually going on in our world. Nevertheless, he is a leader to millions of God's people.

Some who recognize the problem of having too many biblically unqualified leaders see the answer in forming a new, super clergy over America's churches. The so-called "Apostolic Movement" (AM) is one example of this thinking. So, I want to make it clear: I'm not promoting the AM, or the AM's heretical sister, the so-called "Prophetic Movement" (PM). In fact, in my opinion these are just further examples of teachings that are coming from those who shouldn't be leaders.

But, I'm certainly not going to promote America's so-called "Religious Right Movement" (RRM) either. You see, I believe all three of these teachings are dangerous spiritual errors. In fact, Jesus specifically addressed these three errors in His letters to the seven churches. Concerning the RRM error, Jesus said:

But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality (Revelation 2:14 New American Standard Bible).

If you recall, Balak was a political leader who sought the help of a religious leader in order to achieve his political agenda. So, he hired a false prophet name Balaam. Friends, it's my view that the same spirit of error -- religious leaders teaching a political agenda -- may be at the very heart of America's RRM.

Concerning the AM error, Jesus said:

So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans (Revelation 2:15).

Tim Lahaye, in his book Revelation: Illustrated and Made Plain, says:

The word "Nicolaitans" comes from the Greek words' niko, meaning "to conquer, or overthrow," and laos, meaning "the people or the laity." (pg 25).

Friends, that's exactly what the promoters of the AM seek to do. In fact, if you have been to Holly's new blog, Spirit of Error, you will see that the AM actually believes it's raising an army of super Christians in which to conquer other Christians who refuse to bow their knee.

And, concerning the PM, Jesus said:

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols (Revelation 2:20).

I find the biblical account of Jezebel the most disgusting of all. If you recall, Jezebel consorted with the prophets of Baal in order to do battle with God's prophets. In other words, instead of seeking the voice of God, Jezebel sought after the voice of Satan. And, if you listen carefully to what the so-called prophets of the PM are saying, you will find occurring the very same thing.

Yes, America's evangelicals are falling victim to leaders that shouldn't be leaders.

There are not enough Indians.
