Now It's Israel's Move

In a photo attached to this report, Muammar Gadhafi looked as if he just moved a chess piece and was leaning back waiting for his opponent's response. But in this case the board is the Middle East, and the chess piece an important one -- Libya's weapons of mass destruction.

And who is Gadhafi's opponent? His primary opponent is Israel. Now Gadhafi is waiting to see if Israel will follow his move and do likewise.

And according to this report, Gadhafi isn't the only one waiting to see if Israel will make the same move. Already Egypt, Iran and the Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, are calling for Israel to give up her non-conventional weapons (Read about it here).

Talk about pressure. But I'm afraid this is only the beginning of the pressure that's going to be directed at Israel. I suspect we'll be hearing the voices of the entire international gang joining in the call for Israel to surrender her nuclear defenses.

So, will it happen? Will Israel give up her unconventional weapons? Unfortunately, I think she ultimately may. Here's why I think this:

In the book of Ezekiel we find a prophecy about a powerful prince from the extreme north who will lead a confederacy of nations against an Israel living at peace. It's commonly believed this northern kingdom is Russia. Here's part of the prophecy:

And the word of the Lord came to me [Ezekiel] saying, "Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, 'Thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. And I will turn you about, and put hooks into your jaws and I will bring you out ... After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them'" (Ezekiel 38:1-8 New American Standard Bible).

Here we find an amazing prophecy that has already partly been fulfilled. Today Israel has been restored from among the nations just like Ezekiel was told to prophesy. However, Israel is far from living securely. But according to prophecy, the day is coming when Israel will be living securely. In fact, Israel will feel so secure she will lay aside her defenses. Here's more of what God has to say to this northern prince:

Thus says the Lord God, "It will come about on that day, that thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan, and you will say, 'I will go up against the land of unwalled villages, I will go against those who are at rest, that live securely, all of them living without walls, and having no bars or gates'" (Ezekiel 38:10-11).

I marvel as I think about these prophecies and today's news. And I naturally think about that defense wall Israel is building to protect themselves from the Palestinians. Yet, soon we may see the entire Middle East as the prophecy discribes -- a "land of unwalled villages." The reason I think this is because otherwise Israel would never give up her defenses. However, if all her dangerous Arab neighbors disarmed, Israel might not feel threatened anymore and do the same.

Is that's what's coming? Will the Middle East nations disarm and will we see American led NATO forces, and EU led NATO forces, guaranteeing the security of the entire Middle East region? Well, that does seem to fit the end-times scenario we see in prophecy. And, all the pieces appear to moving in that direction. Now we'll just have to wait for Israel's move.

Stay tuned!
