We live in a time when even news from less than 10 days ago is old. However, that doesn't mean it isn't relevant to what's going on today. Back on August 22, a very strange report appeared. News reports are usually about something that has happened. This report was about something that supposedly didn't happen. The report said: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi on Sunday dismissed a press report that a planned visit by the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had been scrapped, IRNA reported from Tehran. "No such visit was ever on the agenda to be canceled and the news to this effect has been invented by foreign media, but the domestic media have made it bolder," he said in his weekly news briefing" Read about it here. For arguments sake, let's say this report is false and Solana's visit was canceled. What would be the reason a planned trip by Solana to Iran would be canceled? Perhaps the next statement in the report provides a clue. The report continued: Asefi also rejected Iran having received a warning from the Europeans about its nuclear program. "We have not received any letter from the Europeans, but we think such a message has to be given to the Zionist regime so that it gives up its unwise policies," he added. If such a warning to Iran where issued by the EU, who would have issued it? As I've been reporting, the so-called EU "big three" -- Germany, France and Britain -- have begun trying to run things in the new, super EU. So, although the EU's foreign and security policy is supposed to belong to Solana, the big three are forcing their way right now. And, sure enough, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer has suddenly began making the news. First, he announced that the big three have reached an agreement about what to do to stop Iran from going nuclear Read about it here. Then, he tied the Iranian problem to the other Middle East conflicts -- including, of course, the Israeli/Palestinian dispute Read about it here. This is what I think: Iran is telling the EU that, unless Israel gives up her nukes, Iran won't give up their nules. So, the EU big three are caving to Iran's threats and looking to Israel for their solution. It look's like the EU big three may have pushed Solana aside for the moment and are forging ahead on their own, trying to bring peace to the Middle East. This week Fischer will be in the Middle East visiting all the key players -- doing what Solana is supposed to be doing. For me, this is all quite fascinating. As I ponder these recent political events in Europe, in my mind I count one, two, three. That's because in the book of Daniel we read: While I was contemplating the [10] horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts (Daniel 7:8 New American Standard Bible). One: On January 1, 1995, the Western European Union military alliance officially became 10 nations. Two: In the months of October and November of 1999, the office of High Representative was first occupied. The holder of this office was also made Secretary General of the Council of Europe and Secretary General of the 10-nation Western European Union. Three: On ?, the EU's big three where subdued, and the new, super EU finally had it's single, all-powerful leader. This is the leader who was foretold in the books of Daniel and Revelation (At this time just speculation of course). You see, it may end up being as easy as one, two, three. Or, perhaps not. There's more to these prophecies. Four: I kept looking until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire (Daniel 7:9). Five: The court sat, and the books were opened (Daniel 7:10).
Six: I kept looking until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to burning fire (Daniel 7:11). Seven: I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming ... And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed (Daniel 7:13-14). Will this be how it all adds up? We'll just have to see. Stay tuned! 08-30-04
