Bill O'Reilly of Foxnews O'Reilly Factor is reported to have said he thought Websites like the Drudge Report were a threat to democracy. According to today's Drudge Report, O'Reilly said: Now you've got the Matt Drudges of the world and these other people, Michael Moore and all of these crazies, all right, no responsibility ... that is a threat to democracy, I think (Read about it here). This brings up the question: Can we trust the Drudge Report. In this case we can. You see, I saw it too -- O'Reilly actually did say it. In fact, he even had a guest on his show who was advocating bringing the Internet under some kind of control. And, O'Reilly appeared to like the idea. Why should I have a problem with this? Well, I suspect FullfilledProphecy.Com would fit into O'Reilly's "crazies" category. In other words, I'd be considered one of those "Drudges of the world." that O'Reilly believes threaten democracy. Talk about reverse thinking. Without the free flow of information, you can't have true democracy. So, how does O'Reilly come up with the idea the free flow of information is a threat to democracy? I wonder who O'Reilly thinks should control the information on the Internet. It couldn't be an agency of the US or any other single country. It would take an international organization, such as the UN, to control the Internet. And guess what, there are reports discussions are going on that will do just that -- bring the Internet under the control of the UN (Read about it here). Here's my point: Besides the free flow of information, just about every financial institution, insurance company, corporation, business and agency -- everything -- have moved from internal networks to the Internet. That means, if the Internet came under UN control, almost everything would come under UN control. In other words, whoever controls the Internet controls the world. O'Reilly should factor that in. 12-18-03
