What Herb thinks
Partners

What we sometimes forget about having a partner is the loss of ownership. A partner becomes a co-owner of the enterprise. That, my friends, is what scares me about Javier Solana's offer of an EU partnership with America Read part 1 &2 here  I  Part 3 here.

If you recall, Solana used the same approach getting his foot in the door of the Middle east peace process. The so-called "Quartet" was Solana's idea. If the US, EU, UN and the Russian Federation could begin singing the same tune in the Middle East, Solana reasoned, peace would be possible.

Although Solana was probably right, the part that concerned me was the idea of forming a four-way partnership. According to my understanding of Bible prophecy, in the end-times, a new European leader from a revived Roman Empire will appear on the international scene and make some kind of deal with Israel -- a deal destined to be broken. And, the creation of a partnership that included the EU, for the first time, opened the door to this possibility.

Now, instead of a four-way partnership, Solana is offering a two-way partnership. In fact, it's being reported that Solana is in Washington at this very moment meeting with top American officials. The word is Solana is discussing the EU lifting its trade embargo against China. But, I can't believe Solana went to Washington empty handed.

He wants to be partners.
