The Powers That Be

Once again the powers that be are walking proud. With another foreign policy victory under his belt, US president George W. Bush's approval rating is soaring higher than ever.

Today the Americans are the powers that be. And, the Europeans are the the powers that were. But, according to Bible prophecy, soon the powers that were will once again become the powers that be.

However, you don't have to know Bible prophecy to see the shift in global power coming. Evidently, important key players among the powers that be are seeing the so-called "writing on the wall" also. In fact, according to the Financial Times, America's prestigious Council on Foreign Relations has become so worried about the return of the powers that were that it has created a special task force -- headed up by former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Herb photo), and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers -- to try and find ways to prevent it (Read about it here).

In the mean time, the powers that were are growing stronger. The EUobserver is reporting that, on April 16, twenty-five European nations will be meeting in Athens for the signing of the Accession Treaty of 10 new members to the ever-expanding European Union (Read about it here)

Yes, today the powers that be have good reason to be walking proud. However, that doesn't mean the prophecies in the Bible will fail. As I write, the prophetic road signs are clear. We are witnessing the foretold revival of the old Roman Empire -- the return of the powers that were (Daniel 7:8).

And, key players among the powers that be are taking notice.
