Prophecy Overload Cure

In my last commentary, I said I developed a case of "prophecy overload." There was so much news flowing out that had to do with the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, I just suddenly felt like I couldn't keep up anymore.

And, like I thought they might, people began noticing that I hadn't posted anything for a longer period than was normal. So, after reading my "Prophecy Overload" commentary, some decided to email me with their encouragement. I want these people to know, I appreciated it very much.

The fact is, sometime we Christians can come to the end of ourselves. We're like a spring that has suddenly come unwound. And when this happens, no matter how hard we try, we just can't seem to be able to go on any longer.

I'm reminded of when both the prophet Daniel and the Apostle John had their experience with "prophecy overload." In fact, their cases was so sever, they each fell on their faces as dead men. And, it took a touch from Jesus before these men could regain their strength enough to stand (Daniel 10:5-9, Revelation 1: 12-17).

No, I'm not comparing myself to either Daniel or John. Unlike these highly esteemed men of God, Jesus has never appeared to me in such fashion. And, I have no expectations that He ever will. However, it is interesting for me to note that the issues these two men were involved with was prophecy. And, I do believe there is a lesson here for us.

You see, if a "prophecy overload" condition happened to these two individuals who were so greatly used by God -- Daniel and John, there is nothing wrong or shameful about finding that we too have suddenly come to the end of ourselves. In fact, if we belong to Jesus, I believe sometimes it's the very best place we could ever find ourselves to be.

You see, it's only when we're at the end of ourselves -- on our faces like dead men -- that we can truly appreciate our desperate need for the Master's touch. And, even when we've experienced it in the past, that doesn't mean we won't need it again.

Yes, I may have experienced a bit of "prophecy overload."

But fortunately, I know the cure.
