It's time to put all the pieces together. Some of what follows is from another recent commentary, Peacekeepers or Landgrabbers? But, because of time, I wasn't able to deal with the subject as comletely as I wanted. So, I think you'll want to read this also. It’s been recently reported France is pushing for the European Union to send peacekeeping forces into the land of Israel to stop the violence. What interests me about this French proposal are the forces the EU has available for such a job – Javier Solana's new 10 nation Rapid Reaction Force. This is interesting because, according to Bible prophecy, in the end-times a Roman prince and his 10 kings are to violate a previous seven-year agreement and send forces to occupy Israel. And, it look’s like the stage may about to be set for this prophetic event. But there’s more: Now powerful voices in the United States and United Nations are also wanting to send peacekeepers into the land of Israel. These people, however, want the peacekeepers to be international forces provided by NATO. Here's why this is also interesting: In the end-times, two beasts are due on the scene according to the New Testament book of Revelation chapter 13. And, we learn from the Old Testament book of Daniel that a beast in Bible prophecy is both a king and his kingdom that rises in some way over Israel. The first beast in Revelation is easy to identify for students of prophecy. Most believe this beast to be the Antichrist and his revived 10-horned Roman Empire. And, if you are following the news out of Europe, a 10-nation led revival of the Roman Empire appears to be occurring in the new, super EU. The second beast, however, is not as easy to identify. But, if you've been following my commentaries, you know what I think. I believe this second beast could be a powerful religious figure working together with a new, more powerful UN. And, this new UN may very well be headquartered in an American restoration of the ancient city of Babylon in Iraq. One reason I feel this way is because there are prophecies remaining from the Old Testament that have to be fulfilled concerning the destruction of Babylon. Another reason is because, just before Christ returns at the end of the tribulation, God will cause the Antichrist and the 10 kings to have a common purpose (foreign policy). And, that purpose will be to destroy this restored Babylon (Revelation 17:16-18). And this is where things get even more interesting: Why will God put it in these king’s hearts to destroy Babylon? Because, I believe when the international community decided to take on Israel, it decided to take on God (Joel 3:1-3, Jeremiah 50:24). Here’s how this event could happen: Did you notice how, in the UN Security Council, France and certain other anti-American EU nations opposed the idea of American forces in Iraq? This is because, since the adoption of Recommendation 666, the EU began a new foreign policy under Solana directed at competing with the United States for control of the Mediterranean region. This being the case, the day could actually come when these same anti-American forces in the EU could fulfill that prophecy and destroy America’s restored Babylon. Stay tuned! 6-20-2003
