Most of us here at FulfilledProphecy remember well the Western European Union's (WEU) now almost infamous Assembly Recommendation 666. This is the document where, back in June of 2000, it was suggested that the mutual defense relationship the 10 Brussels Treaty Powers shared be preserved in the expanding European Union (EU). And, it also suggested that the EU's Council Secretary General and High Representative -- Javier Solana -- be given emergency powers. Ironically, Solana was Secretary General of the WEU -- the organization making the suggestion. Now, the WEU Assembly has another recommendation -- Recommendation 764 Read it here. Seeing that the EU still has no mutual defense clause, and that the mutual defense clause that is being called for in the EU's new constitution has been weakened, once again the WEU Assembly is suggesting keeping the 10 Brussels Treaty Powers together. In fact, here is a WEU press release that appears to say it's more important to keep these 10 nations together now that the EU's new constitution has been rejected Read it here. I find it strange so few of God's people are following these amazing series of events. The pattern is clearly biblical -- the appearance of 10 nations in Western Europe, a single office and a Euro-Mediterranean foreign policy. It seems more prophecy students prefer to focus instead on things that are biblically questionable. I won't argue the events may be related to prophecy. But, they're not the events we've specifically been told in Scripture to watch for. I guess, this too is prophecy. So, the beat goes on. 03-29-06
