What Herb thinks
Return of the Israeli Left?

It's almost unfair. Once you understand the end-times prophecies, it's like watching a movie about a historic event. You already know how the movie will end. Yet, watching the details that made the event happen still intrigue you.

In this case, our historic event isn't in our history books yet -- it's in the Bible. But, since so many other events now in our history books were first recorded in the Bible, it's only natural we would expect the same with this event.

I'm am talking, of course, about the passage in the Old Testament book of Daniel that predicts a Roman Prince that will come to Israel with a seven-year security agreement -- an agreement he will break 3 1/2 years later. And when he breaks his agreement, God will respond from heaven in a terrible and fearful way. Here's what the passage says:

And he (the Roman Prince) will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week  he will put a stop to the sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate (Daniel 9:27 New American Standard Bible).

That's why these reports about the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon should interest us. You see, it's beginning to look like Sharon's right-wing government could be in trouble. In fact, according to one report, Sharon may be in so much trouble he is even looking to the Israeli left for support Read about it here  I  And here.

If true, this could mean the return of the Israeli left. And, this in turn could bring a major break-through in the Middle East peace process. Here's why:

As I've been reporting, the EU has just officially agreed to sponsor the Geneva Accords. The co-author of these Accords, Yossi Beilin, was a member of the former Israeli government and his plan for the most part represents the desires of the Israeli left.

It's not difficult to see what may be coming -- a seven year agreement that is broken. And when it's broken, it will lead the world to destruction.

And, it doesn't take an expert of any kind to see it either. It only take a Bible in the hand, and a little faith in the heart.

And the desire to stay tuned.
