And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth (Revelation 12: 13-16 New American Standard Bible).

When I read the report about restoring the flow of the Jordan River Read about it here, the above passage of Scripture came to mind. The common interpretation of the passage is the woman is the believing remnant of Israel who are fleeing the persecution of the Antichrist who has revealed himself in the rebuilt temple in the middle of the 70th week.

Where are they going? It is commonly believed they are doing exactly what Jesus told them to do in the Gospel of Matthew. Here Jesus said:

Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains (Matthew 24:15-16).

It is also believed this remnant of Israel is fleeing to their place of refuge to the ancient cliff city of Petra in Jordan. And, in order to get there, they will need to cross the Jordan River.

Here's my point: When the passage says, "the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood," could it be referring to a sudden restoring of the flow of the Jordan River in order to keep them from leaving Israel? Could this be, when the time comes, the Antichrist's way of sealing the border between Israel and Jordan?

If so, it won't work. Remember, the passage also says:

and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth. 

By the way, the article says Prince Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan will be one of the international figures who will be attending this meeting of leaders to discus how to restore the flow of the Jordan. Prince Hassan is also a big interfaith activist and the president of the Club of Rome.
