Singing the Same Tune

Recently I wrote a commentary titled, "Turtle Questions Little Horn" (Read it here). The commentary was about something the president of the Convention on the Future of Europe, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, had said about what could be done to heal the rift in the European Union. Giscard said he thought the new, super EU due on the scene in 2004 may not need a new, super foreign minister.

This is what I wrote:

"But now there is a problem. The EU beast's new 10-horns are fighting among themselves over a war with Iraq. And, the split is so sever that it is threatening the beast's plans for becoming the next super beast of the world. What should it do? The turtle has an idea. The EU beast should get ride of its little horn. Perhaps this will help heal the split in the beast's 10-horns. This is how the EUobserver is reporting it : "Convention president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing appeared to call into question whether an EU foreign minister would be such a good idea after all"(Read about it here).

Then I ended the commentary by asking:

"This brings up a couple intriguing questions for students of Bible prophecy: What will the EU beast say about the turtle's suggestion? What will the little horn say about the turtle's suggestion?"

Well, it looks like we're finding out the answer to those questions. Recently there's been a flurry of articles about the EU's need for its own foreign policy and in support of its High Representative, Javier Solana.

In fact, just yesterday the EUobserver posted an article about Solana (Read about it here). In this article Solana is reported to have said he thought the EU should have just one seat on the United Nations Security Council. He believed if the EU had just one seat, it could speak with one voice. Of course, he wouldn't mind if that one voice was his.

And today, Reuters is reporting that Solana said the EU is ready to help rebuild Iraq if the UN provides the mandate (Read about it here). And, at the same time, the EUobserver reported German foreign minister, Joschka Fischer, saying the exact same thing Solana said (Read about it here). In other words, Solana and Fisher are singing the same tune.

However, Fisher went a little farther for his old friend Solana. He said Germany supported the new, super EU's need for a new, super foreign minister.

Where's France while Solana and Germany are singing the same tune?

France knows when to keep quiet.
