What Herb thinks
Silence In Heaven

Today is Valentine's Day. This is the day we give a card or gift to someone we love. And for some reason, after reading Javier Solana's recent speech to the American Jewish Committee, I thought about all of you who come to my Website -- all of you who I love.

The Bible tells us about a time coming when there will be silence in heaven for about a half hour. I think I may understand now. Since reading that speech, I have felt the silence.

Heaven is a place of great joy. It is continually filled with joyful praises and singing. And we as God's children, even down here on this fallen earth, experience the joy of heaven within our hearts. But just because we have joy, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be serious. And, there are times to stop our praises and our singing, and be silent. This may be one of those times.

The reason for the coming silence in heaven is because the Lamb of God will have broken the seventh and last seal on the scroll He had taken from His Father's hand. And when this happens, all the occupants of heaven realize the seriousness of what's about to take place.

Last Thursday the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana, gave the opening address to a new think-tank in Brussels -- the Transatlantic Institute. Although it's a very important speech, I'm not going to post it. I'm not even going to link to it. If you wish to read it, it is all over the Internet. It is even posted on our discussion board.

And you may have noticed I didn't post my usual commentary yesterday. Why? I didn't much feel like it. Whenever I thought about Solana's speech, my spirit within me became silent.

I fear what may be coming. And, I wonder if we are ready for it. One reason I feel this way is because I think we may have allowed ourselves to believe some things about Bible prophecy that won't turn out to be true.

What should we do about this? First, we need to recognize this possibility. And secondly, we need to get more serious about our own spiritual situation, and the spiritual situation of our brothers and sisters in Jesus.

It's time for some silence.
