What Herb thinks
Stealing NATO

According to the Scotsman, NATO is in trouble in Kosovo. The report says:

Ethnic violence in Kosovo this spring overwhelmed the United Nations’ mission and NATO peacekeepers to the point of near-collapse, says a damning high-level internal UN report leaked to The Scotsman ... the 18,000-strong NATO force cannot currently maintain safety and security in Kosovo, adding that the UN administration is even incapable of providing security for foreign diplomats and for itself  Read about it here

If this report is true, the trans-national leftist dream of transforming NATO into their new post Cold War order is in danger of total collapse. What should they do?

What's interesting to me, at the same time this bad  news out of the Balkans comes along, we find the EU's new, super Foreign Minister to be, Jaiver Solana, writing an important article for an on-line magazine called Foreign Policy. The article is titled, Rules With Teeth, and in it Solana calls for the United States to not only submit to the rules of the international community, but to use its military might to enforce the rules Read about it here. It's a subscription article. But, it's worth the asking price to read.

Friends, I'm afraid, sooner or later, it's going to happen. We're going to see the US military and NATO enforcing international law. In fact, it's my opinion this has been in the plans of certain Western leaders all along.

Some may trace this plan back to in December of 1995 when Spanish Prime Minister Felipe González and US President Bill Clinton signed the "new transatlantic agenda" Read about it here

But, by December of 1995, Spain's Foreign Minister, Javier Solana, had already been appointed the new head of NATO. So, I suspect the plan to make NATO the basis for the new world order goes back a little farther.

Here's why: As I record in my book, part of Solana's job as the new head of NATO was to restructure NATO for enlargement. So, the idea of transforming NATO to become the basis of a new international order was already well on its way by the end of 1995 when that treaty was signed.

Combined with all this international intrigue, we find the fascinating rise of Javier Solana. You see, Solana started his political life trying to destroy NATO. In fact, under the former Socialist Spanish government, Solana wrote a pamphlet titled, Fifty Reasons to Say No to NATO.  In 1995, under the new democratic González government, we find Solana -- a former Marxist -- suddenly embracing NATO. So, what's going on?

This is what I suspect. When Solana found he couldn't destroy NATO, he may have decided to steal NATO. So, when he became NATO's Secretary General in 1995, that's what he proceeded to do. He restructured NATO for that purpose. When his term ended in 1999, he already had an office in the EU waiting for him where he could take control of what he had created as head of NATO.

That's why President Bush couldn't get NATO's full support in Iraq.

NATO no longer belongs to America.
