Of all the news that has come out of Israel, this report bothers me the most. Haaretz is reporting Israel's opposition Labor party has been secretly negotiating away Israel's sovereignty over the Temple Mount for peace Read about it here. 

The reason this bothers me is because I believe an important overlooked sign about the coming Antichrist occurred in 1992 when this same Labor party was voted into power and the process of Israel trading land for peace began. The Apostle Paul said:

 “Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.  For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.  While they are saying, ‘Peace and safety!’ then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 New American Standard Bible).

As I've reported before, I believe Paul was reminding his readers of a passage from Daniel about the Antichrist coming and making a security agreement with Israel.  Daniel said:

 “And he (the Antichrist) will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wings of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate” (Daniel 9:27).

You see, in 1992 I believe the Israeli people actually began saying “Peace and safety!” by voting for the Labor party's peace with security policies. This election started Israel down the dangerous road of trading land for peace, leading them to the precarious situation in which they find themselves today.  This has set the stage for the coming seven-year security agreement with the Antichrist.

Now a decade later not only do we still find the same liberal Labor party in Israel wanting to trade God's land for peace, they're actually willing to sweeten the deal by throwing in the Temple Mount.

Like I said, I believe this political situation in Israel is setting the stage for the coming Roman prince of prophecy. If you recall, only 31/2 years after this Roman prince makes his agreement with Israel, he will violate it by taking his seat in the rebuilt Jewish temple and display himself as being God ( 2 Thes. 2:4) And guess what, according to these two reports, it looks like the stage is being set in Europe as well for the appearance of this Roman prince. Here's how:

The EUobserver is reporting the EU's big three military powers -- Britain, France and Germany have finally reached a compromise that will allow the Inter-govermental conference now going on in Rome to establish an independent EU military command outside NATO for the new, super EU (Read about it here).

At the same time the EUbusiness is reporting how the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is clouding these same talks (Read about it here. Evidently, even as the EU heads are rushing to complete their conference before the end of the Italian presidency in December, the issue of bringing peace to the Middle East is still important enough to be high on their agenda.

Now we hear Israel's liberal Labor party is willing to trade the Temple Mount for peace. And unfortunately, the Bible has something to say about this issue.

Instead of peace, destruction will come.
