What Herb thinks
Terror From the Pit

According to Israeli Major General Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash, Israel's war against terror can't be won militarily. He says the well the terrorists are coming from is bottomless Read about it here.

As I thought about it, I realized this Israeli General's words may be more accurate than he thinks. When he said the well the terrorist came from was bottomless, I immediately thought of the bottomless pit the coming Antichrist is to rise up out of in the book of Revelation. Here we read:

The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come (Revelation 17:8 New American Standard Bible).

It is commonly believed the abyss -- or bottomless pit -- is the prison of demons (Revelation 9:1-21). And, as I point out in my book, today Satan doesn't dwell in the abyss -- only demons. So, the beast that "was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss" isn't Satan.

Another interesting point: According to Clarence Larkin, the king of the bottomless pit is called Apollyon. This name means "destruction." The reason this is interesting is, in his second letter to the Thessalonian church, the Apostle Paul calls the coming Antichrist the "son of destruction" (2 Thessalonians 2:3). And, in his first letter to this church, Paul says:

While they [Israel] are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

You see, the center of focus in Bible prophecy is always Israel and Israel's promised Messiah. So, the destruction that Paul is referring to is the destruction the foretold Antichrist is to bring to Israel that is referred to in Daniel 9:27. In fact, as I've said before, I believe the entire end-time scenario may be found in that one verse.

Yes indeed, General Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash may have been more accurate than he thought.

This war against terror may be coming right out of a pit.

The bottomless pit.
