What Herb thinks
The Big Picture

What drew me to Bible prophecy was not the little details, it was the big picture. It was certain geo-political realties that I could see in real time, in the real world. It was the rebirth of Israel and the continuing revival of the old Roman Empire.

That's why the December 2005 European Council conclusion is so fascinating. As you may know, the EU heads hold a summit at the end of each six-month rotating presidency -- each June and December. Among other things, at these summits they decide the priorities of the incoming presidency. And, at the top of their list of priorities is migration. In fact, the EU heads are so concerned about the problem of migration, they are wanting to adopt what they call a "Global Approach."

Why has migration become such an important issue? It's demographics. Europe's founding, democratic order is growing old. To sustain the standard of living to which they have grown accustom, they need younger people to enter the work force. This is where migration can come to the rescue.

However, uncontrolled migration could do more harm than good. So, the EU heads have set a course for Europe that is exactly what the Jewish prophets foretold. Starting with the 1995 Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Peace, the EU has undertaken a project that, once accomplished, will bring about a literal revival of the old Roman Empire.

Friends, we can debate the minor details of prophecy. But, when we do, let's keep in mind what's going on in real time, in the real world. Israel has been reborn as a nation and is crying out for peace. Under the direction of a man and a 10-nation defense alliance, the old Roman Empire is reappearing and offering the surround Mediterranean nations -- including Israel -- the peace and security that they are seeking. The reason for all this? The EU heads want to establish a global approach to their migration problem.

It's the big picture.
