What Herb thinks
Watching the Action

You've probably noticed I haven't posted a commentary for a few days. Well, sometimes I have to just sit back and watch the action for awhile. And, this was one of those times.

But, before I report about what appears to be going on in the EU, we've had something interesting happen on our discussion board. Evidently, someone from another ministry posted an attack against me in our prophecy debate forum. The reason I call it an attack is, after misrepresenting my views, instead of staying to debate the issues they had raised in the debate forum, the person failed to come back.

For the record: As anyone who has read my book or followed my commentaries knows, I don't believe we are already in the tribulation period. I also don't teach the Antichrist will only have control over the EU and I don't say pre-tribbers are deceivers.

In the mean time, more serious matters are unfolding. It seems the battle over who will control this new, super EU is raging. The EU's primary financial backer -- Germany -- is not wanting to contribute more to support José Manuel Durão Barroso's new, more pro-Atlantic European Commission Read about it here.

At the same time, we read some French officials are worried France is loosing her long-lasting place of prestige and power in the EU now that it is made up of 25 nations Read about it here.

One former French Minister is even said to be afraid of what's going on in the EU. According to this report, Jean-Pierre Chevènement is frightened by the EU's new Constitution. The report states:

In an interview with Le Figaro, Jean-Pierre Chevènement, who is a socialist and former interior and defence minister of France, condemned the text for being too economically liberal and in the area of common foreign and security policy of being a tool of "vassalisation to the US" Read about it here.

I suspect one reason for the fear factor is, by 2004, the EU heads had hoped to resolve the democratic deficit issue within the EU's new, 10-nation military wing. Instead, the lack of accountability has only been reinforced by the EU's new Constitution.

As a result, the EU's big three -- France, Germany and Britain -- have formed a kind of an uneasy directorate. I say uneasy because they want different things. Put simply, France and Germany want less America and Britain wants more America.

Since, militarily, Britain is the most important player, Britain is being allowed the lead role in forming the EU's independant foreign and security policy. Thus, the EU is leaning more pro-Atlantic right now. And, France and Germany -- the two most anti-American countries -- are naturally finding this very upsetting.

The interesting part about this is, militarily, it's these so-called EU big three who are in control. To add further interest to this, for a single leader now to rise up and take control of the EU's 10-nation military wing, this person would have to somehow subdue these three nations and their leaders. If you recall, this type of event is actually predicted in the book of Daniel (Daniel 7:24). And, according to today's popular view, it shouldn't be happening now.

Does this mean the big three are the three kings the Antichrist will subdue in his rise to power. I don't know. But, perhaps now you can understand why sometimes I don't post.

I just sit back watching the action.
