While America sleeps tonight, the leaders of the European Union will be deciding if they should offer Turkey official membership. Adding to the pressure on these leaders, the EU Parliament has already voted in favor of Turkey Read about it here.

What does the EU's High Representative want? As I've been reporting, Solana thinks strategically. He's not only in favor of Turkey's membership, he sees gobbling up Turkey as a vital step to his revived Roman Empire.

As the EUobserver quotes a news commentator as saying, Turkey is "probably the most geo-strategically important piece of real estate in the world" Read about it  here.

Another reason I think Solana wants Turkey in is because he wants America out. You see, Turkey's military has ties with both the Pentagon and Israel. In the past Turkey has even participated in joint military exercises with American and Israeli forces. However, with Turkey's new government, Solana is hoping that will change.

So, while America sleeps, the EU beast will decide if it wants to gobble up Turkey?
