FulfilledProphecy is an end-time, Bible prophecy Website. But, what does that mean? Sometimes I have to stop and ask myself that question. You see, there can be a fine line between biblical prophecy and conspiracy theory. And, it's a line I don't wish to cross. So, what is prophecy? To put it simply, prophecy is the wonderful story of Jesus Christ. Everything about Jesus, from His eternal preexistence with God, His appearing and ministry here on earth, His death, burial and His resurrection, all of this was according to Bible prophecy. And, the same prophecy tells us that Jesus will someday return. That why the angel told the Apostle John, "the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Revelation 19:10). This brings us to another question: Who is Jesus? I like an answer given to this question in the New American Standard Bible (NASB). Here Jesus is called "the only begotten God." We read: No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him (John 1:18 New American Standard Bible). The same passage in the King James (KJ) Bible calls Jesus the only begotten "Son". That's because the KJ is believed to have been translated from a newer manuscript. Since the older manuscripts are generally considered more accurate, the NASB probably has it right. But, in either case, both translations are actually saying the same thing -- Jesus is God. Here another question pops up: How can an eternal God ever be begotten? Friends, the Bible tells us this is the great mystery of our faith (1 Timothy 3:16). You see, when Jesus was born of Mary in the land of Israel, He was truly begotten of God. The Scripture says: Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:34-35). And, this brings us to our last question: Is there any other begotten God? The Bible's answer is no. Jesus is the "only begotten God." That's why the Apostle Peter tells us that there is "no other name under heaven" by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). So, the mystery of Christ is no conspiracy theory. Jesus' first appearing was according to prophecy and is now a fact of history. In the same way, we can know Jesus' second coming is near. That's the real reason for FulfilledProphecy. And, that's what I don't want to forget. 05-24-06
