What Herb thinks
Why Their Silence?

According to Todd Strandberg, owner of the popular RaptureReady.Com Website, our popular prophecy experts may be suffering a prophetic blackout. No, he didn't say it exactly in that way. But, that's what he said.

In a recent commentary, Strandberg said he couldn't understand why today's prophecy experts were all so silent about the recent political events in Europe. Strandberg said:

I am a bit bewildered by the lack of interest the affairs of Europe by prophecy-minded Christians. It is particularly amazing that the news of a change in the EU presidency has not set into motion the Antichrist speculators.

And, evidently thinking he hadn't said enough about this strange silence, later in his commentary Strandberg repeated his concern by saying:

During the '80s and '90s, the prophetic press featured endless commentary on the topic of the EU. It is so bizarre for activities so closely related to Bible prophecy to be occurring, yet Christians largely ignore it.

At this point, I began getting a little excited. You see, finally a well known personality was seeing what I was seeing. Events were occurring in Europe with huge prophetic significance, and nobody was reporting them. But, my excitement didn't last long. In his next sentence, Strandberg said:

The only explanation that I can come up with is that we are entering a blackout period ahead of the rapture Read it here.

I was completely amazed. How could someone as intelligent as Strandberg rise up to ask such a serious and important question, and then settle on such a quick and easy answer?

Where does the Bible tell us God's people will go through a "blackout period" before the rapture? In my opinion, the Bible tells us the exact opposite. The Apostle Paul said:

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober (1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 New American Standard Bible).

So, how did Strandberg come up with a blackout period? This is what I think: There is a more obvious explanation for their silence. But, Strandberg -- like today's other prophecy experts -- may not want to go there.

Todd, if your reading this, I could use some help.

Why their silence?
