What Herb thinks
Without Warning

I am still stunned by the news. Suddenly, without warning, a giant tsunami appeared on the horizon and quickly swept over 24,000 men, women and children to their death Read about it here. And as I posted this news, I couldn't leave Linda's and mine big Merry Christmas greeting from December 24. It didn't seem appropriate to me anymore.

How could such an event happen without warning? Unlike America's West Coast where an early warning detection system is in place, these Asian nations never believed such an event would ever take place. Unfortunately, now they know better. But, it's too late for all those people who perished.

When I watched the video of people being swept away, I was reminded of something Jesus said about His second coming. He said:

For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be (Matthew 24:37-39 New American Standard Bible).

This brings up a good question: Do we Christians have a detection system in place that will forewarn us about the Day of the Lord? It is my opinion we do. However, I'm not so sure it's working properly. Let me explain.

Recently I wrote a commentary entitled, Really Don't Care. It was about a remark Hal Lindsey made concerning the rise of the Antichrist. He said, "I don't know who the Antichrist is, and I really don't care." What bothered me about Lindsey's statement wasn't so much the doctrinal reasons he had for saying it, what bothered me was the attitude his belief system engendered. In fact, this attitude may explain why it has taken so long for our evangelical leaders to start to pick up on the news we've been reporting here at FulfilledProphecy.

You see, we have a warning system. It's called Bible prophecy. But, if for some reason our warning system isn't working, it's time for us to re-examine it to determine why. I didn't write that commentary to attack Lindsey or anyone else, I wrote it to point out our problem.

In one day over 24,000 souls lost their lives because their leaders didn't see the need for a working warning system. This is reality. This is today's news.

Friends, let's not make the same mistake.

Our tsunami may be on the horizon.
